My first Coehlo and um, I didn't really get it. I feel like I needed more context maybe? Seemed like I was coming into it in the middle of another story. I was also confused as to whether or not it was at all autobiographical as Coelho is the main character. I did like the desertscape setting, the Valkyrie biker chicks, and that it was short. š¤·ā€¨ā™€ļø¸

Tove_Reads He has a few I love, then a few good ones, then a few ok ones, then some crap ones. I think the 5th mountain or something was so bad. 3y

LeeRHarry I didn‘t get this one at all - I have really only liked The Alchemist by him so far. 3y

Read-y_Picker I keep putting off the Alchemist but I did read The Aleph and it resonated for a long while. 3y

Not sure what to say about this book. I didn't like it. I'm glad it was short. I managed to get through it in about two hours.

My first Coelho and I'm not impressed. Could have been a story of a very profound experience, but fell flat for me. Didn't like any of the characters, couldn't connect to the story... I doubt I'll be reading another Coelho any time soon...

3hrs30mins into my #24B42019 #readathon and half way through my first #coelho I am far from convinced.

Amor4Libros My favorite of his is Veronika decides to die. I‘ve never read The Valkyries. I think he is a very hit or miss author. I‘ve also discovered that his recent books do nothing for me 5y

LaLecture I really cannot recommend starting with this one š‚. Although I‘ve only read one other book by him so far so I don‘t really know if most of his books are like this one. I wonder if anyone from our little group will like this book š‚. 5y

Buechersuechtling After that experience I tried one more book, ā€˛Handbuch des Kriegers des Lichtsā€, but was really disappointed by its presentation (small text paragraphs on the pages) and its flat content. ā€“ Because of that I decided to be through with Coelho but I feel you.

Starting my #12littens12books read to begin my #24B42019 #readathon and already a little bummed out that the translated the original title ā€As Valkíriasā€ into ā€Guardian Angelā€. Here we go, paolo. #bookandbooze

LaLecture Um fair zu sein, sowohl Engel als auch Walküren kommen darin vor :D und es geht auch primär um erstere. Aber ich versteh auch nicht, wieso man Titel immer so ändern muss ?ā€¨ā™€ļø¸. 5y

Was there a story here? If there was then I missed it. The plot is extremely lacking or (at best) very difficult to decern. The conversations are boring as the characters jabber on about nothing consequential. I'm being generous in giving it even 1 star. Ugh, just not a good book.
Oh well, 1 down in my #25inFive Readathon. Got a good 2hrs in! š‘¨š¸»
