Not my favorite of the series so far, but they can‘t all be winners.
I read volumes 1 & 2 of Paper Girls when they were first released & then didn't continue reading the series for some reason. The only explanation I can think of is, "So many books, so little time." Today I reread both volumes & continued on with 3 & 4. Vaughan is a master at demonstrating the limits of our historical awareness. His series "Ex Machina" is a great example, as is the panel above. Which takes place on January 1, 2000. Our current ?
I managed only 8 hours and 35 minutes for the #24B4Monday #readathon this time around, but I succeeded in getting through more of my Hugo Voter Packet.
The Hugo Best Graphic Work category had excellent entries, including the latest volume of Paper Girls. This terrific series is like Stranger Things with time travel! #hugo2019
Thanks to @Andrew65, @TheReadingMermaid and @jb72 for hosting the readathon!
I got a bit off track with #sixonstpaddys, y‘all. Casey had puppy school this afternoon, then I went to see a house with my family, then we all ate burgers together, and suddenly it was 4:30.
I‘m home now, though, and between the reading I did this morning and my wee afternoon session I‘m up to 2:49. Time for more PAPER GIRLS and my first Guinness in a very long time indeed.
I love the artwork for this series, and while I still want to find out what happens in volume 5, this volume was just okay to me. Each volume gets a little more confusing, although they did explain a few things in this one. Onward to volume 5! 3⭐️
I absolutely love this series! As bizarre and eccentric as it is, it‘s a must-read graphic novel series. Interesting new reveals & new characters. I don‘t want to give away anything, but I really enjoyed this one and ends in a way that made me quite glad I already had volume 5 checked out from the library. I will follow these Paper Girls to any time!
This volume did a lot as far as advancing the plot/explaining some things, which I was glad for. I enjoy the storyline of this series so much. I liked hopping to the year 2000, but wish they would have given some reasoning for alternative events happening in this timeline. I will say, I love it when the girls meet their future selves! Borrowed this one on #hoopla, read on my iPad. On to the next volume!
We finally got some 🌨️❄️☃️! Enjoying vol. 4 of Paper Girls with my coffee this morning while I decide how I want to spend my snowy day...continue the never ending task of making centerpieces for my wedding or the never ending task of cleaning 🤔 Not the best options to pick from lol 💖📖☕
It‘s ok for me to read this before I wrap it and give it to my brother next week right?
Also Volume 5 not in the database
Actually Vol. 5 but I couldn‘t find it on Litsy...so yeah, our favorite time traveling paper delivering band of adventurers are back and still trying to make their way home. Love the pop culture references and excuse to revisit everything 80s. Another great issue—libraries feature prominently so you know it has to be good—with a fabulous ending. As always, can‘t wait to see where & when the story goes next!
It‘s really gross and rainy and gloomy outside, so I‘m burrowing down in my bed for the afternoon to log more hours for #24B4Monday. Also the perfect time to catch up on some graphic novels on Hoopla, now that I found my iPad and charger again. Finally going to get to Volume 9 of Saga after this one, too!
Well this story is finally starting to make sense. Volume 4 gives us the little pieces that we have been looking for, and makes it an even more interesting ride. It‘s hilarious to read about a ‘future‘ that I grew up in. It‘s made fun off, analyzed and commented on. Makes us think about our past, while wondering what is in store for us in the future.
I NEED MORE! Love learning more of the story and getting know the characters. Also the artwork is still fantastic. The snark and sarcasm are on point.
My Amazon order arrived! These are the books I ordered with the gift card my parents gave me. I do believe I‘ll be jumping into the tagged book after I go get my reading glasses. #mybirthdayislit
