So my only protection is a kindergarten teacher and a ninety-eight-pound female minister....And they don't even believe I'm in danger. As Bethany approaches her thirteenth birthday, her parents begin acting more oddly than usual: Her mother cries constantly, and her father barely lets Bethany out of his sight. Then one morning he hustles the entire family into the car, drives across several state lines -- and leaves Bethany with an aunt she never knew existed. Bethany has no idea what's going on. She's worried that her mom and dad are running from some kind of trouble, but she can't find out because they won't tell her where they are going. Bethany's only clue is a few words she overheard her father tell her aunt Myrlie: "She doesn't know anything about Elizabeth." But Aunt Myrlie won't tell Bethany who Elizabeth is, and she won't explain why people in her small town react to Bethany as if they've seen a ghost. The mystery intensifies when Bethany gets a package from her father containing four different birth certificates from four states, with four different last names -- and thousands of dollars in cash. And when a strange man shows up asking questions, Bethany realizes she's not the only one who's desperate to unravel the secrets of her past. In this exhilarating thriller, Margaret Peterson Haddix crafts a taut story so full of twists and turns, readers will be gripped until the startling conclusion.

⭐️⭐️⭐️Bethany‘s parents dump her on the doorsteps of a never-before-seen aunt. As she impatiently waits for her parents return she encounters more and more oddities about herself and her parents. Her world gets turned upside down when she learns the truth. Interesting story but the ending was very sudden...although it did pull everything together. Bethany is annoying and frustrating at certain points in the story but you almost can‘t blame her.

I pulled out my alma mater (undergrad) mug from the back of the cabinet. Don‘t have one from library school...U of South Florida. Will have to rectify that soon.

What‘s your alma mater? Have any swag to share? #AlmaMaterMania

Back to my ebook. It‘s so good and I‘m trying to figure out the big mystery! There are just too many ways for it to go at this point!

PenguinInFlight State University of New York at Oswego (aka SUNY Oswego). I had several sweatshirts and T-shirts, but as it‘s been about 14 years since my last year of college, they are all gone. It was a sad day when my last sweatshirt was more holes than material, LOL. 6y
Chelleo @PenguinInFlight ... yeah, same here. All of my clothing is gone. Time to re-up. 6y
RealLifeReading I went to Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and the University of Sussex in the U.K. Sadly in Singapore they didn't (at least back then) do much swag so I don't even have a t shirt! 6y

callielafleur SUNY Albany, and I don't have any swag either! I wish I had gotten something from my department specifically, since it doesn't exist anymore. 6y
Chelleo @callielafleur I‘m surprised departments don‘t have more swag. 😒 6y
Chelleo @RealLifeReading Nice...maybe Nanyang has more stuff now? 6y
callielafleur @Chelleo I know! Especially for big schools. 6y
Avanders University of Chicago undergrad.. and I usually buy a sweatshirt every couple years when the old ones get too old.. and University of New Mexico for law .. I have a couple old sweatshirts from there too.. maybe I don't replace them bc I still live here and it's not as nostalgic? 🤷🏽‍♀️ I have a U of C tote bag, some socks... maybe that's it? I'm planning on getting a mug from each at some point. 😁 (u of c I can buy online 😉) (edited) 6y
cathysaid Gamecocks! (U of South Carolina) Soooooo many inappropriate uses of the mascot name. 🐓 6y
Godmotherx5 I have my nursing pin. After 20 years, the shirts are long gone. 6y
Christine St. Olaf College in MN for undergrad, Boston College for grad (and in between I lived in St. Pete and took a few grad courses at USF! :). 6y
Chelleo @Christine ... hey, we‘re classmates!! 6y
amvs1111 OSU for undergrad, and, because I live in Columbus again, I can't walk a step without running into Buckeyes swag. Masters and doctorate both from Purdue 6y
Chelleo @amvs1111 ... there‘s way too much OSU swag in Cincinnati. 6y
amvs1111 @Chelleo it's like a cult in Ohio! 6y
Kallik93 @Chelleo I just graduated from Boise State University last summer! I have an alumni mug and a bag that says Hotter by One Degree 6y
Chelleo @Kallik93 congratulations 🎊🎉🍾. Your bag sounds awesome 😎 (edited) 6y

Finished my Mount TBR, Kindle edition. I‘m doing Pike‘s Peak=12 titles. Never comes out quite how I imagine it but I Iike it. It‘s suppose to be a book mountain. I‘ll add the “page” lines after I‘ve finished to hopefully get the full book effect. #bujo #bulletjournal #MountTBR #MtTBR #PikesPeak #KindleTBR

Pickpick

This SF book could be an LC book. It is in the point of view of thirteen year old Bethany. As she comes up to her thirteenth birthday he parents started acting odd. Then one day, her dad packs the family into the car, drives to another state and leaves Bethany with an aunt she never knew. She knows something is up and she decides to investigate. Her only clue is a sentence she overheard-“She knows nothing about Elizabeth.” #ucflae3414f17
