#LittensDressedInBlood #Day14 #WalkingWithAGhost This book fits the prompt perfectly. I read it for last years #scarathlon Set in 1880s St Louis, Jacob Tracy hasn‘t had a moment alone since almost dying on the battlefield at Antietam, ghosts plague his every waking hour. It‘s cost him his family, his calling in the church & almost his sanity. Trying to stay away from populated areas, he gets an unusual job offer & maybe a way to control his curse.

StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego Hi Liz, how is the mail situation going over there? I think I might need to send you another #merryunbirthdayswap package. 3y
Lizpixie @StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego hi! It‘s still abysmal, I‘ve emailed @aperfectmjk about it, I‘m still waiting on books for my match! Auspost are gradually getting through the backlog but I‘m not holding my breath. 3y
MidnightBookGirl Oooh, this sounds good! 3y

aperfectmjk @Lizpixie I did go ahead and send your match some items. 3y
aperfectmjk I will say though, there are some other international participants I'm not sure how to help because even if I try to send something, they may not get it. It's such a bummer. I almost wonder if a egift card would be a better option at this point 3y
StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego Oh wow. That is pretty bad. Well I guess I won't send anything else just yet then. Hopefully things start turning up soon. If not we'll figure out something. 3y
Lizpixie @aperfectmjk thank you lovely! I was starting to think about an egiftcard for my recipient myself! At least then she could get herself something. I‘m so sorry about this, I don‘t think our postal service really thought about what 3 months of strict lockdown would do to the amount of packages needing delivering. I‘ve got books I ordered for the hubby from before the lockdown that are still in limbo somewhere🤷🏻‍♀️ 3y
Lizpixie @StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego I‘ll keep you posted😋on developments or lack thereof. I live in hope🙏 3y

I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join the fun if you want.

#EmojiNov #day3 #? #westerns These are the only two "Westerns" in my library at the moment.I grew up in the 70s & 80s when westerns meant those dollar paperbacks of sensationalist "scalp those white men, kill those savages" pulp fiction.Litsy has slowly changed my opinion and when I asked for recommendations I was surprised by how much good there was in that genre. So I've not only got these two, but also True Grit & The Blinds are on the way now.

sprainedbrain I love Jacob Tracy! Sisters Brothers is on my eventual tbr as well. 6y
Lizpixie @sprainedbrain I haven't read either yet, they're both in the mountain of TBR books I've been squirreling away for a rainy day, but if it don't rain soon, I'm gonna run out of room for my nuts!🥜🥜🥜🥜🐿 6y

#HallowReads #day11 #FullMoonMayhem This is a recent recommendation, when I asked for western style books this was one that was mentioned.Jacob Tracy can see ghosts, after nearly dying at the battle of Antietam he can see any restless spirit that comes near.Staying away from places that contain lots of the unquiet dead has become his mission in life, until he's hired by Sabine Fairweather to retrieve a friends legacy & he ends up out of his depth.

#AndItsAugust #day28 #IndiePresses I have a lot of Indie Presses on my shelves these days. So many more than I had prior to joining Litsy. This is one of the many reasons I love being here, I would never have heard of these books & houses without it. We have Relief Map-Tin House Books, My Life With Bob-Henry Holt & Company, The Curse Of Jacob Tracy-Thomas Dunne Books, Spoonbenders-Riverrun & Stan And Nan-Jonathan Cape.

RealLifeReading And a TBR jar! 7y
ChasingOm I love, love, love the Jacob Tracy books -- the one you have and a follow up novella 7y
Schlinkles Spoonbenders is a lot of fun. Has the same dysfunctional family feeling like Arrested Development. 7y

Today's #BookMail is this paranormal western book. I've been told if you liked Vermillion by Molly Tanzer then you'll enjoy this one too. I've been meaning to try more westerns, even though this isn't one along the lines of True Grit etc, it's still a start! I need to make me up a TBR bingo card so I can cut down on some of the overflow on my Mount TBR, though this & the other 7 books coming were bought beginning of this month!

sprainedbrain I loved this book! Very much looking forward to the sequel. 😃 7y

Someone on Litsy mentioned a "supernatural Western novel," and I said "Stack it!" I'm so glad I did. For some reason, I thought it was a YA book, but it's not. It's just pure bonkers.
✅Paranormal ghosts and other monsters
✅Western setting w/ a roughneck cowboy
✅Bada$$ lady friend w/ a secret past
The book is divided into parts, with each part being a new ghoul that Jacob and his friend Boz must defeat. I'm looking forward to reading Bk 2! ?☠️?

Bookzombie Sounds great! Stacked! 7y
RanaElizabeth Loved this so much! Who knew that ghosts and cowboys worked as a genre so well?!? 7y
ChasingOm @RanaElizabeth, I know, right?? I need to find more in this genre!! @bookzombie, glad I could send this back into the #blamelitsy cycle! (edited) 7y

While this book isn't super scary, it does have ghosts, vampires, werewolves, and other creepy things. I definitely think it #needsmorerecognition and I recommend the audiobook especially. Very much looking forward to the sequel!

This was an entertaining enough audiobook, but hardly something that will stay with me for a long time. It was not good enough to make me want to continue reading about the characters, even though they certainly had potential.

I'm currently listening to this and it's great entertainment! I have my hopes set for an unusual romance too (without blushing virgins or stunning beauties) but that may just be me dreaming. As usual, the book I'm reading the most actively right now and want to post about isn't on Litsy and adding new books seems to take them a minimum of 5 days!

I think it's awesome to pick up a book that hadn't even been on my radar & end up loving it. I got this as an Audible daily deal, never having heard of the book before. The narrator is good, the story is fun and fast-paced, and I really enjoyed the characters. Will continue the series!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Amazing mash up of horror, fantasy, and western. The novel tells the story of Jake Tracy as he finally learns to set aside his personal demons to use his strange abilities to fight some real demons. Loads of adventure and top notch characterization.

Really digging this tale of a former soldier fighting ghosts and demons in 1880's St. Louis. Great dialogue. Messinger has a great talent for setting the right tone while messing with the genre.
