pickThis is cute. Not sure MG is really my jam. But this author is a genius. He speaks to the real kids. If you know what I mean. This is the third in the track series. Pretty positive you can read them out of order.

pickWhile the plot was definitely a win for this one, the #audiobook narration was a bit over enthusiastic for my ancient ears, but I think it would land well with the MG set.
Sunny‘s mom died while giving birth. This left his father heartbroken and caused him to push Sunny into running because it was his mother‘s sport. But Sunny doesn‘t want to run anymore; he wants to dance. Is there a way for him to dance and still support the track team, though?
Question, fellow readers: can the Track series be read out of order? I have Sunny on hand, thanks to @Soubhiville , but I‘m out of Libby holds at the moment and wondering if I can circle back to the first two books.

pickMy favourite part of the series so far! I love Sunny and how he's so different from the others. He's writing in diary form and in such a special style, it was such a pleasure to read his entries (sorry, Sunny!). But he also has a lot to go through, and I can only compliment him on how he's grown by the end. Well done, Sunny!

pickThis is definitely my favorite of the Track series so far. Even though the paper book is pictured, I actually listened to the audio and it was absolutely phenomenal- the narrator took a quirky, sweet character and totally brought him to life. Amazing!
This is 4/6 finished titles for my #JubilantJuly goal - they've all been either short books or books I was already halfway through
pickALL THE FEELS!! I‘m pretty sure Sunny is my favorite character. The audiobook narrator was amazing, and brought Jason‘s character to life. Glad this one and “Lu” came to SCRIBD today!
pickALL THE FEELS! 😭😭😭 Not a spoiler, but Sunny's mom died giving birth to him and he's felt out of place and weird ever since he can remember. Told through diary entries, we follow Sunny to his next track meet where the Master of the Mile has given up racing for discus throwing! All I wanted to do was hug Sunny as hard as I could to make his broken pieces come back together. Get those tissues and don't pass on this one!

Halfway through this already and I didn't think I could be more in love with these kids, but Sunny is absolutely another part of my soul... the weird part, the part that sounds so strange in your head you can't let it catch a breath. ?
pickJason Reynolds's Track series concludes with Sunny and Lu. In these final two books, he continues doing what he did so well with Ghost and Patina: developing unique characters who have faced tragedy and have struggled. For each of the four, the Defenders track team offers friends, family, an amazing mentor in Coach, and something to strive for beyond themselves. What a fabulous middle-grade series . . . though I loved it just as much!!!
pickThis came in from the library just when I wanted something fun and quick. Perfect! Typically, I enjoy epistolary stories, but Sunny is a bit unusual as narrators go, and I was uncertain at first. Eventually, I adjusted, and in the end, I was possibly almost as emotional as when I read Patina. Sunny is incredibly unique, trying to figure out who he is, and super sweet. It's great and I could read these stories again and again.
Sunny is just that—sunny. Always ready with a goofy smile and something nice to say, Sunny is the chillest dude on the Defenders team. #sunnysunday #anewchapter @vkois88 @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

Okay, so 'Ghost' (#1 in series) is great for young YA readers who love sports. Even if they don't love to read. Easy one to recommend for boys or girls.
'Patina' (#2) might be best for girls who liked Ghost and want (or need) to find another book to read. I'm not sure if boys would love it as much.
'Sunny' is MY favorite. It's more deep. More thoughtful. I adore him. I also love the description of the movie Baraka, must watch it now!

pickI‘ve enjoyed the other characters in this series, but something about Sunny speaks to me. His voice (Reynolds again doing what he does best), his attitude, his fears, his sounds. Reynolds moves from laughter to tears to laughter, sometimes in as few as 5 pages. Sunny‘s story is sad, but his attitude about it in this diary of a book keeps you going. Parents can really mess you up, you know? Redemption is possible too. Hope Sunny & Darryl get there.

pickThis was my favorite in the Track series so far. I just love Sunny‘s style. He thinks of things in terms of sound and movement. He wants to follow his dreams and try new things, but is held back by memories and expectations.

pickI'm really digging this series. It astounds me how Jason Reynolds whips out so many books in a year and manages to do them all so well.
This is the only book I've finished for @DeweysReadathon, thanks to a stomach bug and sleeping most of yesterday. Oh well, you can't win them all. Hope everyone that's participating is having a good time! #readathon

pickMy favorite book in the series thus far. As a teacher, I see so many possibilities with this book. The most obvious one is to teach stream of consciousness, but I would love to share this book with students and teachers to foster empathy and understanding of people with ADD or ADHD—the book never says Sunny has attention deficit, but it is clear that he does. ⬇️.
