My Sister Rosa | Justine Larbalestier
'I promise,' said Rosa. 'I won't kill and I won't make anyone else kill.'I can't see the loophole. Since the guinea pig there's been nothing. Months now without Rosa killing as much as a mosquito. As far as I know.Che Taylor has four items on his list: 1. He wants to spar, not just train in the boxing gym. 2. He wants a girlfriend. 3. He wants to go home. 4. He wants to keep Rosa under control.Che's little sister Rosa is smart, talented, pretty, and so good at deception that Che's convinced she must be a psychopath. She hasn't hurt anyone yet, but he's certain it's just a matter of time. And when their parents move them to New York City, Che longs to return to Sydney and his three best friends. But his first duty is to his sister Rosa, who is playing increasingly complex and disturbing games. Can he protect Rosa from the world - and the world from Rosa?My Sister Rosa will have you on the edge of your seat from the very first page to the last.

Unsettling and disturbing. Rosa is not like other 10 year olds. Che, her older brother, is convinced she‘s a psychopath and has been balancing protecting her with protecting the world from her but he‘s finding it overwhelming as she gets older and smarter.

I enjoyed My Sister Rosa. The story is about a family who moves from Australia to New York for work. Che feels like he is the only one who know for sure that his little sister is a psychopath. He feels like he always had to be on his toes making sure his sister isnt doing something she isnt suppose to. On top of this story being about siblings it is very much about Che and trying to understand what it is he wants out of this life.

MySharonaK Is there a lot of animal abuse in the book? Cause it sounds interesting but I wanna know cause I can‘t always stomach when that happens 4y
BookNightOwl @MySharonaK there is not a lot of animal abuse but a certain instant keeps coming back up over and over. 4y

Pretty good! I found the book to be more about Che than his psychopathic sister, Rosa. I enjoyed the story even though the ending turned out to be a bit anticlimactic, in my opinion. The slow burn added a nice touch!

Spent lots of time out in the ☀️ busting through this read. I rarely read YA, and I think there were some of those elements that were a little off for my reading taste, but over all a solid read. Entertaining for sure and some pretty creepy characters.

S L O W B U R N 🔥 of a novel about a creepy little sister who, for all intents and purposes, appears to be a psychopath. It kind of took a long time to get there but the ending was very satisfying.

This was a retelling of The Bad Seed. I really enjoyed it. It focuses on a 17 year old boy who knows that his 10 year old sister is a psychopath. He tries to take responsibility for her and keep her from harming people. But what do you do if you know a child psychopath and almost no one believes you? A really tough question! This book isn‘t scary and is just a teeny bit creepy but does a great job at capturing the struggles one might feel...

A teenage boy is pretty sure that his 10 year old sister is a psychopath, and he is trying to navigate his own coming of age while keeping her from hurting others. While the premise is disturbing, this is not a scary book. But it was a good read.

A slow burning read about a teenager trying to secretly protect the people he knows from his psychopathic little sister. This was a pretty engrossing book and the twist in the end was awesome! A solid YA thriller, I expected it to be creepier and more relentless than it was but it's totally worth reading all the same!

Well this book was just creepy. I was really impressed by the depth in which the author explored the concept of psychopathy. Tension is built really effectively- I knew something really awful was going to happen and it felt like it was always around the corner. I wasn't displeased with the ending- but felt that a few of the peripheral characters could have been developed more consistently and clearly throughout. Really solid, especially for YA.

JodyS I am reading this now too, maybe I should finish it tonight 7y

This book was a creepy and weird read. I didn't like any character except for Che who I though was realistic! I have read and watch many mystery/thriller and this book didn't stand up to me. I think the book was okay. I was disappointed with the ending as i was expecting something bigger. But over all it was okay. I say if you are curious about it, read it. Once you start reading you have to finish it.
I give 2.5/5 ⭐️

The blurb on the back of the book is way more intriguing than the book itself. 90% of the book was tailored to the character, Che, which is Rosa's brother. The story is just following Che in his love life, boxing and daily life. I am not interested in boxing, but the story went so much into details about it. I would fall asleep because I would rarely see anything about Rosa being creepy. Absolutely nothing psychopathic happened until Chapter 35.

Holy crap, this book 😳😔! All the feels for Che, who just wants to be a normal teenager and can't be because of his family. Rosa is a truly creepy character, and his mom and dad are no help, but for different reasons. Well written, good twists, one of the best YA reads of the year.

Also, it's finally cold enough out for a fire!

This book is amazing! Che is 17 and believes his 10 year old sister is a psychopath. Of course, his parents are hippy, non-conformists who think he's exaggerating. But Rosa is one of the most terrifying characters I've met. She sorta reminds me of Annie Wilkes.
