Well-Timed Murder | Tracee de Hahn

"A true page turner...I found the plot fascinating, and de Hahn builds the tension and suspense perfectly to a satisfying conclusion. I was left wanting to read more about Agnes, and I am looking forward to her next adventure!"--Charles Todd on Swiss VendettaSwiss-American police officer Agnes Luthi is on leave in Lausanne, Switzerland, recovering from injuries she sustained in her last case, when an old colleague invites her to the world's premier watch and jewelry trade show at the grand Messe Basel Exhibition Hall. Little does Agnes know, another friend of hers, Julien Vallatton, is at the same trade show--and he's looking for Agnes. Julien Vallatton was friends with Guy Chavanon, a master of one of Switzerland's oldest arts: watchmaking. Chavanon died a week ago, and his daughter doesn't believe his death was accidental. Shortly before he died, Chavanon boasted that he'd discovered a new technique that would revolutionize the watchmaking industry, and she believes he may have been killed for it. Reluctantly, Agnes agrees to investigate his death. But the world of Swiss watchmaking is guarded and secretive, and before she realizes it, Agnes may be walking straight into the path of a killer.Tracee de Hahn's next mystery, A Well-Timed Murder, is another magnetic mystery that will engross readers from the opening page to the stunning conclusion.

A well crafted police procedural, with an imaginative, competent, intelligent Swiss officer, Agnes Luthi, who finds herself embroiled in a murder. Lausanne is hosting a premier watch & jewelry trade show. Tensions run high as the traditional watch industry struggles against the new watch conglomerates. Will another murder occur? How involved is the private boys boarding school?Love this series.Sad that there are no more published.#porchlife

I am really enjoying this police procedural set in the Swiss land of watchmakers. #porchlife #eveningchimes #AnAgnesLuthiMystery
I love that the protagonist name is Agnes- reminds me of my great aunt Agnes who helped my mom lots when we were growing up. She was deaf but could read lips like a trooper. I don‘t think she ever learned sign language but she could read & write so she got some education. Born in 1886, she died 90+ years later.

Today‘s read. I remember the first in this series as a pick, so when I found this in the library earlier this month, I grabbed it. #libraryfind #AnAgnesLuthiMystery #porchlife

Every summer (except 20 and 21), our local library hosts a Murder Mystery Author Festival. It's held at our cultural arts center and is free to attend. If you pay $20, though, you can have lunch with the authors and get a tote bag filled with books & other goodies. I went with my oldest kid in 2019 (Charlaine Harris was the main guest), and these postcards were among the items in our bags.

This is the second one, and the series is still good. Not a cozy, not too gory, and not too technical of a police procedural. The detective is likable and human, and I‘m looking forward to seeing what happens in her life next.

Met Trace de Hahn on Valentines Day. She was quite delightful. I highly recommend Swiss Vendetta. Haven‘t read the new one yet.

I‘m really loving this series! This was an intriguing and fascinating murder mystery. Nothing too graphic, and it was smart and clever. Can‘t wait for the next one! I voluntarily reviewed an eARC copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley.

I‘ve read both books in the series (so far), and greatly enjoyed them. Excellent police procedurals set in Switzerland. Detective Agnes Lüthi is a widowed mother of 3, and a great central character. #jesshowreads2018

SaraRosett Good to know! I liked the first book and will look forward to this one. Brilliant covers! 6y

Oopsies, I almost forgot to take a #wintry photo for my own challenge! Haha. #2018bookbinge day 3 - winter always puts me in the mood for a good crime novel, especially those set in colder climates. Listened to The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye last week, and reading A Well-Timed Murder this week!

idrinkandiknowthings What did you think of The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye? I was so-so on Lagercrantz's first addition to the series. 6y
howjessicareads @idrinkandiknowthings I kinda liked the first one. This one was pretty meh. I‘d say not to bother. 6y
idrinkandiknowthings @jesshowbooks thank you! I might end up reading it for the Nordic Noir prompt for #pop18 if only because I still love the characters, but we'll see. 6y
