My topics bookclub is reading “childhood favorites” for January, so I reached for this. I hadn‘t read it before, but I have watched the movie many many times.

It started kind of slowly and I didn‘t care for the writing style at first, but once Jen leaves the valley of the urRu it picks up and gets better.

It‘s not exactly like the movie, but only very minor differences. I liked it, but the movie is better in my opinion. Venkman agrees 😺

bookishbitch Did you ever watch the new show? I thought it was excellent. I've read some of the graphic novels and really liked them too. I've watched this movie so many times! I also just ordered a book called The Shadow Glass which sounds intriguing. 1y

Soubhiville @bookishbitch I did watch the show and liked it 😊. I‘ve only read the creation myth GN, but I‘d read more if I come across them. I got The Shadow Glass for Xmas and plan to read it in Jan! 1y

I am totally and utterly in love with Dark Crystal TV series on Netflix. It's beautiful and is bound to give you goosebumps. The writing is exquisite, it's very very enjoyable. Highly recommended to everyone whether you love fantasy or not. This is one of a kind!!!

I‘ve been talking The Dark Crystal with friends and now it‘s all I can think about. Wondering whether to order Chinese and watch the film again or to read the novelisation.
I can‘t put into words how much I love this film. It was talking favourite books yesterday that did it, because it‘s same for films and this one holds my heart and soul in its small Gelfling hands.

JazzFeathers You know? I've never seen it. It was so popular when it came out that l'm totally familiar with it (l was obsessed as akid), but my parents didn't bring me to watch it. It was going to be a long time before it would became available more widely. Maybe it's time to hunt for it :) 6y

IamIamIam We just watched this with the kids after visiting the Jim Henson exhibit at the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens. The mechanics on Hoggle's mask were unbelievable and took 4 remote puppeteers to control! 6y
