From Golden Heart award-winning author McCall Hoyle comes The Thing with Feathers, the story of sixteen-year-old Emilie Day, an epileptic teen leaving her safe, homeschooled life for high school on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. For the first time, Emilie must navigate classes, cliques, and crushes, all the while keeping her epilepsy a secret.

Great book about a teenager figuring out the world is better than she thought and deciding she wants to join it.

Emilie Day has spent years protecting herself from the world, thanks to her epilepsy. Now, as she begins to attend public school again, she must confront her fear. With moments of friendship, romance, and discovering everyone has challenges to overcome, this was the type of good-hearted YA I needed to read last week. I loved it.

Book 2 for #SixBy6/6—finished on the 1st.

(I received a free copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.)

keys_on_fire Curious to read this, as I had epilepsy as a child. Thanks for sharing! 6y

Each chapter's title/theme emanates from Emily Dickinson lines

Woohoo!!! This is my second win with them ❤️ I won the Defy the Stars one about 6 months back. I always thought when they said "10 copies for 10 Riot Readers" they meant one per, but I actually got 10 copies of Defy the Stars! So I may be giving a few of these away when they come in ?

LazyOwl Congrats 🎉 7y

You sat down, now you've lost! #catsoflitsy

@AmandaL had a giveaway for these books. Thank you ever so much, Amanda! Now you've brightened my day again. 😉

I'm sure my kids will love the comic book and I might just have to start reading the book because the cat won't let me get up.

Thank you @julesG and @Jas16 for participating in my #XtraXtra giveaway!!! It's the first time I tried a giveaway and since there wasn't a big pool to randomly select from, you both are winners! 😂 @Jas16 a copy of The Thing with Feathers is yours. @julesG I'm sending you the Geronimo Stilton and The Thing With Feathers. I can buy myself another copy. 😊 Please send an address to AmandaLLitsy (at) gmail.com, and I'll mail these off this week. 🎉

AmandaL @Jas16 I'd like to! (And if you knew how many times I've loaned out books, then lost them, then bought them again, you'd know it's no big deal. 😆) 7y

Part 4 #XtraXtra giveaway: I was so excited for the release of this sweet #ya about a teen girl with epilepsy attending high school for the first time, that I pre-ordered two copies. This is a brand new hardcover that was just released this week! Here's a link to the first chapter of the audiobook, if you think you might be interested -

First group of YA titles I came away with from #alaac17

I'm really looking forward to all of them; hard to pick which will be first but I'm leaning towards The Thing with Feathers.
