You can count on Rick Steves to tell you what you really need to know when traveling in Scotland. With the self-guided tours in this book, you'll saunter the Royal Mile of Edinburgh and explore the city's stirring hilltop castle, discover the wild beauty of the desolate Northern Highlands, and plumb the waters of mysterious Loch Ness. Hit the links on the world-class golf courses of St. Andrews. Drink whiskey in the village of Pitlochry. Become enchanted with brooding castles on the Isles of Iona, Mull, and Skye. Rick's candid, humorous advice will guide you to good-value hotels and restaurants. He'll help you plan where to go and what to see, depending on the length of your trip. You'll get up-to-date recommendations about what is worth your time and money. More than just reviews and directions, a Rick Steves guidebook is a tour guide in your pocket.

Bookwomble We went to Arran a couple of years ago, which was lovely, particularly if you have time for a walk around the adjacent Holy Island, with its Buddhist monastery and rock paintings. 3mo

Alright guys, I have a week off at the end of May and was considering visiting family in Ireland since I haven‘t been in a few years but now I am really considering Scotland. I was in Scotland for three days over 10 yrs ago and instantly fell in love. I think my home base would be Edinburgh but my question to hide who have been or live here is how long is enough time to really enjoy and not rush through? What are the must sees?

Mdargusch It sounds like an amazing trip. I love Scotland and Ireland! 6y

In three weeks I am leaving for my birthday trip to Scotland. It is a big birthday year so I decided that leaving the country was the sane response. So this is my current nonfiction read. #marchintoreading #recentnonfictionread

elkeOriginal I always travel using Rick! And Scotland is a delightful country - you will have such a good birthday! 7y

Jas16 @elkeo @CoverToCoverGirl I went to Scotland for the first time in October and fell in love so I am really excited to return. 7y
drokka I recommend Desire Lines. The author used to ride his motorbike all over the country and has good tips about things off the beaten path - if that's your jam. 7y
