I loved this book. It was so lyrical and beautifully written, a bit eerie but I enjoyed it.

I honestly have no idea what I think of this.
I think it was a weird metaphor/fable about aging and fertility and the trials of marriage. Maybe.

There was a bear. And a squid (but not a squid, a whale, but not a whale, a ghost).
I think someone smart needs to explain this to me. 🤷‍♀️

Went to visit the in-laws - and library sale! SCORE! Any recommendations on which to read first? 😁

Went to the used bookstore yesterday and only bought one book! Weirdly proud of myself 😂

It was well-written, but the fairy tale/allegory didnt engage me like I thought it would. The fetus-eating was a pretty compelling start, though.

Lots of reading this month, & I'm not done yet 😉.
And lots of good stuff - The Passenger, Broken Monsters, & The Couple Next Door, to name a few.
But this fable about marriage, loss, & devotion stole my heart. It's a difficult read - heavy symbolism requires a lot of thinking on the reader's part. But it's just so beautifully composed. For anyone looking for something different, I recommend this one ❤️

This is a fable about marriage, the toll of miscarriages, the distance that grows when one spouse takes on a new role that the other isn't prepared for. This book won't be for everyone, but man, is it beautifully written! With mesmerizing images & heart-wrenching truths on every page, this is a book best read in a few short sessions, to keep the spell cast by the author intact. Pick it up when you want an adult fairytale, or a challenging read.

#Booktober Day 11 - Longest Title

This is definitely the longest title of any book on my shelves!

Ok, @Litsy friends... I need a suggestion to recommend for my book club's read next month. I want something spooky for October. These are the ones I already own that are un-read. Which one should I nominate? And... Go!

My love of all things visceral and raw is why I like this book so much. It hurts, but in a good way.
