Hi, Im new to this. I haven't read a lot in my life and now I want to make reading a part of my life. I've read mainly non fiction books. However, I want to get into fiction books, to read for pleasure. Could anyone please suggest some good books to read for a novice reader? Thanks in advance!

RaimeyGallant That's a great question. I might recommend young adult novels like 6y
RaimeyGallant And welcome to Litsy! #LitsyWelcomeWagon Some of us put together Litsy tips to help new Littens navigate the site. It's the link in my bio on my page in case you need it. Or if you prefer how-to videos, @chelleo put some together at the link in her bio. 6y

RainyDayReading Welcome to Litsy! Typically for new readers I tend to recommend YA books because they‘re often easier to get into. I‘m not sure what fiction genres you would like, but I would recommend the Immortals quartet by Tamora Pierce or Graceling by Kristin Cashore. Both are YA fantasy but easy to read and get sucked into. 6y
SiriuslyWeasley Welcome to Litsy! Some of my favourite fiction reads include: the Harry Potter series, anything by Stuart MacBride, Spill Simmer Falter Wither by Sara Baume, Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance by Ruth Emmie Lang, The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss, The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien and my current read, My Name is Venus Black by Heather Lloyd. I could go on, but I digress. 😉 Happy reading! 6y
Soubhiville Hi there! Welcome to Litsy! Are there any subjects you‘re particularly interested in? I agree with @RaimeyGallant that Young Adult might be a good place to start. If you aren‘t opposed to fantasy, Harry Potter is a fun and engrossing read! The first one: 6y
Tamra How about 6y
StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego YA books are a great start. I will always love the Hunger Games Trilogy. You also might like thrillers such as The Woman in Cabin 10. Easy reading, but engrossing as well. 6y
SaturnDoo Welcome to Litsy. 🎉 I read in most all genres of fiction.Historical being one of my faves. I would recommend The Burial Rites, Salt to the Sea, Between Shades of Grey, The Kitchen House. Hope you find sonething you will enjoy 🤗😊 6y
kim.guernsey Welcome! I'll go against the grain of YA recs. I love non fiction and can sometimes find YA difficult to get into after a non fic binge. I'd recommend Station Eleven or Dark Matter for more of an adult take on dystopian or sci fi genres. 6y
DHill Welcome to Litsy! One of my favorite books is Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel. 6y
Christine11 Welcome to Litsy! If you fancy reading some thrillers/Crime I would recommend Chris Whitaker, Karin Slaughter and Tana French as some good authors to go for ! In fiction - The Song of Achilles, A Man Called Ove and The Book Thief are all phenomenal books 😊 I hope you find something you like to start with ! 🌸😊💐 6y
LondElle89 Hello and Welcome. I'm a classics person. I know that's not for everyone, but if you want to have a go there are plenty to go around. Jane Austen is a favourite of mine; especially Pride and Prejudice. Another favourite is L.M Montgomery's The Blue Castle, this is more set in the early 1900s. And for a more modern book Home Going by Yaa Gyasi. A must read. 6y
Jerdencon Welcome! I'm a big fan of Fredrick Backman books (A Man Called Ove, Bear Town), Kate Morton for historical fiction and Tana French for mystery: 6y
RaimeyGallant We're rooting for you! 6y
