This is a beautiful light hearted story . I'm glad I spent most of last year pushing myself to read in spite of the pandemic . Looking forward to reading her other novels .

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Hopefully 2021 will be much easier for reading . The pandemic ruined my motivation for reading :( But I'm slowly getting back into reading again ! Here's to a new year with lots of interesting books !

Waiting impatiently for my first pair of eyeglasses ! I want to read without my eyes feeling tired !

aquariusnat Has anyone dealt with America's Best ? They said two weeks and it's now three . Is this typical or should I be annoyed ? 3y
aquariusnat Update: went to the store , my glasses were ready for pickup ! YAY ! 3y

Has anyone else been completely unmotivated because of the pandemic ? I'm actually in the middle of a fun light-hearted book , but just not interested .

Seekingtardis I have been that way on and off since March!!! It‘s been really hard to focus on reading anything even light hearted easy reads! I hope it gets better for you soon!! 4y

Gave in and bought my first pair of reading glasses ! Unfortunately the frame is slightly too big for my head , LOL ! Drugstore glasses are not one size fits all ! Hopefully when I get the chance to get a pair from an optical store they will fit better and I will be able to read a lot more often.

This was a nice easy read. The novel is short but interesting. The mystery of what happened to civilization doesn't get resolved, but the slowly revealed connection of the main characters keeps your attention. Definitely will seek out another book by this author.

UNOFFICIAL POLL :How do you feel about series/genre books . I always seem to lose interest around #4 or #5 . Am I missing something or does anyone else "peter" out too ?

Suzze It‘s hard to keep a series going strong in the long run. 5y

Started off great , but slowly became boring. It's well written, just not as interesting as I was expecting it to be. The Murphys are an interesting part of the Lost Generation , too bad fhe second half portrayed them in a modern tabloid style .

At the rate I'm going , I'll have to live way past age 100 to finish my current/future TBR pile ! But not going to frustrate myself with reading challenges anymore ! If a challenge becomes frustrating , it's okay to let it go!

I started out really liking the story. But my interest waned the more I read. The premise was good , but the characters and their actions were boring .

Found this at B&N and couldn't resist the splurge! It has most of her writings including some book reviews of her contemporaries! I decided to donate my older smaller collection of hers to the library.

This is a nonfic about the history of fonts . It's actually quite interesting. There's several photo examples in the book and some surprising stories too.

Is anyone else a "lazy" reader? I love reading, currently reading an interesting nonfiction called Just My Type about fonts . But only wind up reading for about a half hour before bedtime. LOL! Why do I let everything else distract me?

This is a nice collection of stories. But it's also slightly boring. I think it would work better if you get the audiobook. It's actually read by Hanks . He's always fun to watch in interviews, so he probably does a good job reading his book .

This was a really good novel. It is a satirical ode to being a reader . Half of the chapters tell the story of a man on a quest to finish reading a book . He get interrupted in the oddest manner several times. The other half of the chapters tell the various stories that he is trying to read . If you enjoy unusual storytelling , then give this a chance.

SqueakyChu I loved this book! What a reading experience!! It took me two tries to read this novel, but it was so worth it. 5y
aquariusnat In the last few years , I've gotten into exploring world fiction . Definitely interesting novels from non- english speaking writers . 5y

This was an interesting Historical Fiction . At first the nurse watching the Fasting girl appeared cold and cynical, while everyone else appeared loving . Then in the last third of the novel an explanation changes everything you thought about the adults in this story.

mrozzz I tend to have extra days off of work for the various holidays so there is more time... but I do often get distracted by the weather and try to enjoy it more. But that‘s what audiobooks are good for 🙂 6y

I liked the idea of a dog narrator. So I enjoyed the first half of the book . But then there was a change in plot which just seemed to be an unnecessary pile on and kind of ruined the rest of it for me .

This was an interesting short story collection. I liked all the stories . But some of the lead females were hard to relate to . Their behavior seemed too bitchy to garner my sympathy . Fans of Sittenfeld will probably love this collection .

This was an interesting fantasy novel . There's multiple POVs being showcased in alternate chapters . It's kind of a character study with very little plot involved . But it's beautifully written ! If you want to read about some interesting characters in a water-logged Earth , then give this a shot !
