Just finished The Island of Doctor Moreau.
I don't read much science fiction but it fit into one of my challenges for the 2017 Popsugar reading challenge.
Proud of myself for stepping away from my norm on this one. Have any of you read it? What was the last book you read that is in a completely different genre than what you usually read?
This beauty finally arrived in the mail today.
Please recommend your favorite fairy tale collections and/or retellings!
"If I ever wrote a book, I would place the women in the forefront of the action. I would uncover the story that lay Invisible between the lines of men's exploits. Better still, I would have one of them tell it herself, with all her joys and doubts, her struggles and her triumphs, her heartbreaks, her achievements, the unique female way in which she sees her world and her place in it'
First pick for #holidaybooktubeathon
She felt a warmth upon her face and knew that he was watching her, and bravely lifting up her chin, she met his steady eyes and drew her courage from the light in them that burned for her alone❤
Finally off work for a few days and came straight home and picked this gem off the shelf! I've missed the worlds of Susanna Kearsley. When I go a while between her books I start to feel it! She is my go to author when I want something cozy, when I feel sluggish and think a slump is coming on. Really excited to get into this one❤❤
Last bookish gift I received! My Mom knows how big of a history nerd I am and how much I'm interested in Roanoke so she got me this for my birthday! Super excited to delve in and see what these two authors think! @Liberty

Recent Non-Fiction read I hauled. What's the most recent piece of nonfiction you've hauled?
"Her only crime was to be an independent Woman"
The Spy❤
Recently hauled this beauty and can't wait to read it.
Slowly making my way through My first Geraldine Brooks novel. I have heard great things by her. I also own The Year of Wonder and definitely need to pick it up soon. Have any of you read anything by her?
'Here are the moments that our fairy tales forgot or deliberately concealed; the years after a spell is broken, the rapturous instant of a miracle unexpectedly realized, or the fate of a prince only half cured or a curse.'
Won this in a Goodreads giveaway a few months ago and finally received it in the mail yesterday. So happy to finally have it especially with a few more days left in Nonfiction November❤
Kind of lost on where to start with F.Scott Fitzgerald. I hear mixed things about Gatsby so I picked up this one and two others❤
"I'm astonished at all the firsts. First time a hot guy paid attention to me. First time I told anyone about my passion for writing rap. First time I told anyone about some of my family problems. Somehow I don't feel so alone. Instead I feel connected and grateful. Also butterflies. But not the usual few. A thousand of them."
Browsing my shelves looking at books I'm really getting antsy to read.
Anything you're excited about?
My current read. Not too far in but can feel my heartbreaking already
Starting my second pick for #nonfictionnovember2016 today!
"If you want to understand a place, ignore the boastful monuments and landmarks, and go straight to the haunted houses."
My most anticipated read and first pick for #NonfictionNovember2016
Work tomorrow so cheating a little and sneaking a peak tonight. Happy Reading!
One of my picks for #NonFictionNovember2016 hosted by Olive and Gemma❤️
Really excited about this one, really all my picks but I love 80s movies so I can't wait to see what all this book entails. Are you participating in nonfiction November and if so what are your picks!?
Makes me sad.
Was listening to the Get Booked podcast and Amanda and Jen had a guest host on and the whole episode was dedicated to mystery and thriller novels and this book was bought up twice. It sounded amazing! It involves an old Louisiana plantation that's been in a family for years and a dead body. Happy to have tracked this gem down, can't wait to see what I think.
'The truth, it echoes, calling after the boy, watching his departing back. And then it turns to me, tightens is grip on my innards, gives a twist. We made a deal, remember? It is time.'
Only on page 8 and this book has me captivated.
Let me know if you're participating in the #readathon taking place today!
What I'm reading tonight! I actually really enjoy Lang Leav's poetry.
What are some of your favorite poetry pieces? What are you readijg tonight?
Received this beauty in the mail today. I placed a book depository order in the moment I saw this on a booktuber from the UK's video where she discussed this. Rebecca is all I have read by Daphne Du Maurier and I for sure want to fix that.
' you will tell him I didn't run off? She smiled as though reminding me of something I had promised. "I couldn't bear to have him thinking that, it's such an awful lie, and I do love him. Tell him I was murdered, won't you? Tell him I'm still here.'
What I'm reading on this Friday Night. What are you reading tonight and/or this weekend?
Yet another book I've picked up recommended by @Liberty on the All The Books Podcast! Filmed an unboxing video of it yesterday @ https://youtu.be/-0jVgdblqW4
Bought this gem today at Half Price Books. Anyone read it? Thoughts?
'You just know, that for as long as you are living you'll remember every detail."
I was feeling really overwhelmed and felt a slump coming on, I just had So.Much. Going on at the moment. So I put everything to the side and turned to the author I knew would have a story to pull me back to life and make everything right; Susanna Kearsley. I'm really enjoying Season of Storms so far. I can't wait to see where the story goes. Happy Weekend everyone❤️
'A spirit came into my cradle on the seventh day of the seventh month of my life, and while my mother slept in her Snow White bed, the spirit touched my face, and left there many tales and spells, like the tattoos of sailors.'
I didn't set out to lose myself. No one does, really. No one purposely swims away from the solid, forgiving anchor of their heart. We simply make the tiniest of compromises, the smallest of decisions, not realizing the way those small changes add up to something larger until we are forced, for better or worse, to face the people we have become.
"The book of Enoch was allegedly written by the great grandfather of Noah but the Vatican repudiated that notion. They ridiculed it as a fifteenth century forgery at best, or a second century satirical work of blasphemy at worst"
Book recommendation from @Liberty from the All The Books Podcast. This sounds so amazing, I can't wait to get to it.
A girl.
A boy.
And a summer neither of them saw coming.
I've been in the mood for something summery and fun. Excited to see what I think of this one.
Can someone explain this to me..is The Golem and the Jinni considered fantasy? I've never really read fantasy before and I understand the world building is important. I'm about 100 pages in & although I love getting to know the characters I feel like NOTHING has happened yet
Picked this up yesterday and it sounds freaking amazing! I can't wait to get into it. May have to shuffle around other books on my tbr and read it sooner..
Another recommendation I picked up from an episode of 'All The Books'
Novelist Beatriz Yagoda is lag seen in Copacabana holding a suitcase & a cigar and climbing into an almond tree. She abruptly vanishes without a trace.
"Conversations with Angie are always straightforward and in the moment. She interviews how she lives her life, openly and honestly. After everything she has experienced & everyone she has spoken with, this is just half her story. It's the right time for her memoir: she is a pioneer." Jay-Z
Getting into this story a little before bed. Goodnight readers.
