TheAromaofBooks At her age I had a similar reading level and really enjoyed outdoors books - Jim Kjelgaard was a favorite, they tend to be about dogs and also hunting/trapping. Snow Dog and its sequel, Wild Trek, were/are my two favorites. Also loved horse books by Marguerite Henry and enjoyed older books by Eleanor Estes, E. Nesbit, Elizabeth Enright, etc. She also may enjoy The Secret Benedict Society books. 4w
Merethebookgal Whoops, just saw you said reads at high school level, so that might be too juvenile 4w
Crazeedi Try any of the books in this series(this isnt the first one) 4w
Lcsmcat I was reading Dickens at her age (started with Oliver Twist) and loved it. Also Treasure Island if she likes adventure stories, the James Herriot books if she likes animals. 4w
ravenlee Anne of Green Gables, The Dark is Rising, Prydain Chronicles, Tolkien, Agatha Christie? 4w
marleed I the the series of unfortunate events are great books for young readers with an advanced vocabulary but still yearn for content specific to their age. 3w
Scochrane26 A Million Junes by Emily Henry. A conspiracy of Stars by Olivia a Cole 3w
lucifare Robinson Crusoe maybe? I remember enjoying that when I was in elementary. Also Gulliver‘s Travels. My mom also got me started on Victoria Holt when I was young. 3w

I sometimes volunteer at the Kids' Book Bank. One of the perks is that I sometimes get to rescue books that would otherwise be discarded and add them to my personal library. Today, I saved Encyclopedia Brown from "book heaven".
