Hello Everyone! This is a silly request but I am looking to read a book either about or by an author from every Canadian province and territory. Thus far, I have read northern Ontario, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland. Preferably I‘d like to read a non-fiction and fiction selection. I‘d love some suggestions! 😊Also, the photo is from a local beach where my boyfriend proposed. I thought it was a nice photo of one of our beautiful provincial beaches.

ShelleyBooksie One of the books in Kathy Reichs series (fiction) is set in Miramichi, New Brunswick. Will O The Wisp by Catherine Spray is a lovely collection of New Brunswick ghost stories. 3y
ShelleyBooksie Louise Penney's Inspector Gamache series is set in Quebec. Recommend starting with the first book in the series 3y
ShelleyBooksie From The Ashes by Jesse Thistle is an amazing non fiction book set in Sasketchewan 3y

Megabooks Loved this book set in Montreal 3y
Megabooks Also loved this set in Winnipeg. It won Canada Reads this year. 3y
Mirazzles @ShelleyBooksie oh, thank you! I haven‘t found one from New Brunswick yet. And I love ghost stories! 3y
Mirazzles @ShelleyBooksie I will definitely have to add it to my list! Thank you! 3y
Mirazzles @Megabooks I will have to check them both out, thank you! I have quite a good list now! I just need PEI (Anne of green gables I suppose) and Alberta and the territories 😊 3y
llwheeler Richard Van Camp is an author possibility for NWT (I've only read one of his, short story collection moccasin square gardens, but I enjoyed it). If you check the #ReadCanada hashtag you can find some other ideas. Also, beautiful picture and congrats! 3y
Mirazzles @llwheeler I‘ll have to check out that hashtag, as well as the book. Thank you! 3y

#ReadCanada PEI - somewhat cheating for my PEI selection, as this is a cookbook and covers all the Atlantic provinces not only PEI but whatever.

Not a cookbook I feel the need to own as there were only a few recipes I could see myself actually making, but neat to flip through. The mini-essays (on cod, lobster, etc) were well done and added good context. Mostly it made me want to road trip east again and eat all this food, rather than make it.

My #ReadCanada challenge wrap-up (1 July 2021): 5 of 13 provinces read. Spent most of my time in western Canada. I hit up Yukon, BC, Alberta, Ontario, and PEI. Thanks @MsMelissa for hosting!

BC for #ReadCanada

This was a good book and good audiobook. The political rhetoric made me mad, as I think it was intended to. I appreciated the emphasis on the intergenerational nature of trauma and the way that trauma gets repeated through history. No easy answers here.

Next up! My hold came in on the latest Rockton novel. I absolutely love this series. This will represent the #Yukon for #ReadCanada and is also my #BookSpin pick for the month. Add in beautiful weather for outdoor reading and it's celebration time 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

That-Bookish-Hiker I don‘t know the next one was out!!! Yay! Need to get my copy from the library. 3y
TheAromaofBooks Yay!! Good luck!! 3y
MsMelissa Good job 👏🏻 I think I might have the first book in this series 🤔 3y
TheKidUpstairs @MsMelissa if you do, give it a try! They're great brain break books to whip through between heavier reads. 3y

Newfoundland for #ReadCanada (4 provinces left to go!)

First of all, I love this cover art. So gorgeous. Good book, too. The sense of place was great. The audio narration was very good.

Yukon for #ReadCanada

Not my usual genre, but that's why I do challenges. A solid read, with compelling characters. Kelley Armstrong has been on my radar of authors to check out for quite a while, so I was glad of the excuse to finally read one of hers.

Andrea4 Omg I want to read this series! But actually listen to it and am annoyed I can't get it in audio! Lol a coworker mentioned her because she LOVES her and kyle and the Yukon thing lol 3y
llwheeler @Andrea4 I bet it would be really long in audio, it's longer than I expected. 3y
Andrea4 @llwheeler after Les mis and Don Quixote, nothing is *that* long in audio lmao 3y

llwheeler @Andrea4 😂 well, true 3y
Andrea4 @llwheeler plus, for me, if it's a big ass book, I'm going to want audio so I can do other things. *Men* I know you don't like doing other things while listening. *De* I don't like being trapped by a physical book's limitations bahaha. Also hope you like my use of random grk particles. 3y
llwheeler @Andrea4 haha awesome use of grk particles, I love it. I know what you mean though, and I do like doing things while I listen... Just very specific things lol, basically just crafting and phone games... So it does take me longer to get through a book. 3y

I started my new cross-stitch and love it so far. How fitting to start my souvenir from Newfoundland while listening to the tagged book set in Newfoundland. #ReadCanada #audiostitching

I think this will be a good chunk of my #20in4 readathon this weekend. I'm feeling ambitious this round! Aiming to finish 4 books and, why not, hit the full 20 hours. We'll see how it goes, looking forward to it!

llwheeler Thanks again for hosting @Andrew65! 3y
Tamra I really liked the writing! 3y
