My 2019 year in review! I‘m very proud to say I had my goal set at 24 so as not to overwhelm myself. I even felt like I was never reading at all this past year as a librarian that can put a lot of undo pressure on oneself. But I surpassed my goal! Yay!

Lovesbooks87 We had the same most popular book! 3w
Avanders 🥳🥳 3w
Moonprismpower @Lovesbooks87 I binged the entire series but stopped at the fourth book Heir which had an annoying character. I may go back but I‘m not so sure. 3w
Lovesbooks87 @Moonprismpower I binged the whole series too! 3w

There was nothing wrong with being an odd duck. I figured some people have edges that don‘t allow them to slot neatly into the holes society expects them to fit into, that was all.

Took a quick break from The Stand to read this little book I‘ve had checked out since Halloween. This book is a quirky coming of age story with thrills, tragedy and friendship. Do ghosts haunt us? Or is it only our memories?

sudi I've been wanting to read this book for so long but for some reason the price is insane here, even for the ebook version. But it's nice knowing that buying the book will be worth it 😊 1mo
Meaw_catlady @sudi wow! It‘s such a small book I wouldn‘t think it would cost so much!! I think I was the only person who had checked it out since we ordered it so I broke this library copy in. Hopefully someone checks it out it‘s a very good story. I cried at least 3 times . 1mo
sudi @Meaw_catlady the pricing is weird here. Most of the times it depends on how popular a book is, if it fairly unknown you would expect it to be at a fairly low price but ther price it even higher here. I read about it on Shelf Awareness so i wanted to read it ever since. It sounded a little similar to Something Wicked comes this way by Bradbury 1mo
Meaw_catlady @sudi I see! Well I definitely recommend it. I was very pleasantly surprised at how it struck me. I haven‘t read that I need to!! 1mo

There is so much about my city‘s history that I did not know! So I found this book fascinating. I‘d like to have heard more about the assassination of McKinley and less about the circus animals. But super interesting!! Bottom photo of my wedding reception at the building that was the New York Building at the Pan Am Expo, now the Buffalo history museum. #NFNov

Book 1 for #24b4monday

A coming of age retrospective. Nostalgic with a twinge of melancholy, in the way that things set during the 80s tend to be.

Coleen_Nieto @xxjenadanxx thanks for posting, this is on my tbr! 2mo
xxjenadanxx @Coleen_Nieto you're welcome! It was a good, fast read. I grabbed it on a whim while at the library. 2mo

Today I learned, #TIL : a whole bunch of stuff actually but the two that are blowing my mind a little bit are 1) Roswell Park was a PERSON. It‘s the name of a big hospital here and I figured that at best someone with the last name Roswell donated lots of $ but probably thought it was just random 2) when President McKinley was shot, VP Roosevelt had to come straight in from St. Albans VT, which is where both my ILs were born. #NFNov

Started this on audio this morning for another #NFNov read. I've lived in the Buffalo area my entire life and only have a vague knowledge of this piece of local history.

Really interesting so far. And, fun fact, my wedding reception was held in the only Permanent building constructed for the Pan-American Expo in Buffalo. https://tinyurl.com/qqvknz6
