??? This. I never wanted to be a journalist or investigative reporter, but I did want to be Murphy, deeply passionate with as many convictions as flaws. At the end of the pilot, she sings along with Aretha's "Natural Woman", as passionate as she was off key. I loved that.

SleepyDragon @NovelGirl82 I was 12 when the series premiered, and used to watch it with my parents. I was at the age when a kid is just starting to figure out who they want to be. I also wanted to be Julia Sugarbaker on "Designing Women," but ended up more like Mary Jo. Lol 5y

SleepyDragon @NovelGirl82 I also liked the way that Corky became Murphy-like in her own way by the end of the series, and consequently in the relaunch this past year. There's a scene in the season finale in which she corners Mike Pence in the men's room to ask him questions and gets carried out by Secret Service. I think it illustrates how you can be a feminine feminist, and Faith Ford shines in this capacity. 5y
