ValerieAndBooks Not sure if you know but I used to live in Michigan (16 years)! I still miss it often. I had an oven mitt like this until it wore out! One side had the LP and the other had the UP on it. 7y

ValerieAndBooks Yes, from 1990-2006. Most of that time was in Ann Arbor! Hubby was an engineer for Ford then. 7y

Selected Poems | Robert Frost

#LocalAuthor I'm sharing because he did spend time at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and wrote this acclaimed poem while staying in Michigan. I just love his words. -side note- some attribute the clock to be the clock tower at the U of M campus.

Tuesdays with Morrie | Mitch Albom

This was the author and book that came to mind for #day18 #localauthor. In all honesty, I never understood the hype. For some reason, it just felt so wrong for an author to profit so much by sharing a private relationship with a dying man. Books that target grief vultures always make me uncomfortable. Also, books that target life lessons packaged up in 208 pages make me suspicious.

Suzze I've never been a fan of his books, but I do love his newspaper columns. He is really very nice. He was a customer and I did his book sale for the premiere of the movie of this book. Every few books I try one again. Nope. Not my cup of tea. 7y

Jess_Read_This @Suzze I will say he has done a lot of great work in the city and suburbs for charity. He seems quite nice and personable in interviews. His books aren't for me. I do like reading his newspaper articles though as well! 7y
