#favoritebooktomovieadaptation You really have to ask? 😄 I guess it‘s only #humannature to long for home. And some of the magic in Oz seems a bit like #weirdscience #movember #gratefulreads #namastenovember #multitasking 🌪🌈👠

OriginalCyn620 Nice! 👌🏻 3w
LibrarianRyan Nope. Didn't have to ask. 😁 We have signed first editions in our Illinois Authors collection. 3w

Eggs Great triple👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻I‘m an Oz fan from the get go! All my life I wanted to see those ruby slippers and finally I did at the age of 60 at the Smithsonian👠👠 3w
rubyslippersreads @Eggs I‘ve seen them in person twice; both times I cried. @BookieMary also took me to see Dorothy‘s dress when it was on display for auction. (No, I didn‘t buy it. 😊) 3w
rubyslippersreads @LibrarianRyan That‘s something I‘ve never seen, though I have seen an unsigned first. 😊🌈 3w
LibrarianRyan @rubyslippersreads They were given to our library years ago. I don't think the entire series is signed but many are. I would grab pictures, but they are locked on display and I don't have keys. 3w
rubyslippersreads @LibrarianRyan Thanks for the thought, though. 😊🌈👠 3w

Saw this on my feeds today and thought it was a great story to share. They are building an actual yellow brick road in Humboldt Park where Frank Baum wrote The Wizard of Oz. #yellowbrickroad #wizardofoz #theresnoplacelikehome

It recently occurred to me that I had never read this book. (I know.) So, I rectified that! It was a fun listen, though I‘m a little surprised at the amount of violence and talk of killing others in a children‘s book. I‘m not sure how this would be received in a new book nowadays.

vivastory I only read it this year, too. I've heard the series gets stranger & stranger 1mo
Hooked_on_books @vivastory Huh. That almost makes me want to continue. It‘s funny with the violence thing—older Disney movies are way more violent. I think we tolerated a lot more targeted at kids in the past than we do now. 1mo

I haven‘t read the tagged book, but I was scared a little of this movie when I was a kid & still don‘t like it. My sister loves it. I wasn‘t a fan of the flying monkeys or the Wicked Witch. The Scarecrow is sweet and the only one that came to mind for this prompt. I do love Wicked though. #scarathlon #chillingphotochallenge @Clwojick #teamslaughter

Daisey I never liked this movie either, and I keep telling myself I should probably watch it again now to see what I think. 1mo

I simply fell in love with this passage from Maud Baum to Judy Garland. 💙

“Magic isn‘t things materializing out of nowhere. Magic is when a lot of people all believe in the same thing at the same time, and somehow we all escape ourselves a little bit and we meet up somewhere, and just for a moment, we taste the sublime.”

My last historical fiction book from Round 6 of #LMPBC...and it is a winner! Loved this part fiction/part nonfiction tale of how and why L. Frank Baum wrote his enduring masterpiece, told from his wife Maud‘s perspective as she watches the 1939 film being made. There‘s Hollywood history here as well, some surprises, some heartbreaks. I found this very interesting, moving and informative. Definitely recommend. 4.5/5⭐️
