When Kelly meets Caleb, she thinks if he just #Layallyourloveonme, everything will be fine. But things turn out to be not at all fine, when Caleb‘s temper starts to show.

This book feels like reading a novel, and it is kinda giving me Educated by Tara Westover vibes. But, man, the stuff some people put other people through. I can‘t even 😢

erzascarletbookgasm Sounds💔. Pretty profile pic, btw! 👍❤️ 6y
Kalalalatja @erzascarletbookgasm it is 💔 and thanks! One of my friends is training to be a photographer, and she took a lot of great pictures of me for my job applikations 👌 6y
Avanders I was going to say the same thing about your pic! 💙💙 The book sounds rough though. I agree -- the things some people put other people through 😰😢😤😖 6y

ephemeralwaltz Lovely profile pic!!! The book does sound 💔 but it sounds really really good. Looking forward to youe thoughts! 6y
emilyhaldi Lol, we are all quite distracted by your new profile pic!! That was my first thought as well 😂 I love it!! And woof, this book sounds tough. 6y
Mdargusch This sounds reminiscent of 6y
Cinfhen Gotta echo all the comments regarding both your profile photo (😍) and this book (💔) 6y
Kalalalatja @Avanders @ephemeralwaltz @emilyhaldi @Cinfhen thanks all 💕 I‘m pretty happy with it myself 😄 and the book is tough! I‘m doing some volunteer counseling for abused women, and this book feels like all their stories, while still being completely its own 💔 and I haven‘t even gotten to the real bad parts, yet... 6y
Kalalalatja @Mdargusch Stacked! It sounds really intense and tough 💔 6y
BarbaraBB Haha I also wanted to react on your profile pic immediately: so pretty 💕 6y
Reviewsbylola Oooooh this sounds good but also horrific. 6y
Kalalalatja @BarbaraBB thanks 😘 6y
Kalalalatja @Reviewsbylola it was really good! It gives an insight into why it is so hard to leave, and how damaging psychological abuse is, without going into too many graphic details about the physical abuse. It was really well written, but tough to read! 6y

Look, I don‘t know how- but @emilyhaldi ‘s post inspired me to pick this book. I recently heard this crazy story about an Amish Ohioan Man who murdered a couple of people, and it sure feels like it was partly because the Amish religion wouldn‘t let him #layallyourloveonme (if I were a guy) because they weren‘t/aren‘t? so accepting of homosexual people. So he ended up leaving the Amish community but not before SHIT WENT DOWN 🔥 #ABBAinAugust

Reviewsbylola I can‘t tell if you actually know the synopsis or if you‘re making it up. 🤣🤣🤣 6y
Meredith3 @Reviewsbylola 😹😹 I‘m bad at story telling and reviews 😹 6y
Reviewsbylola No it‘s good I just wasn‘t sure if the homosexual part was rooted in truth or if that‘s your own spin. 😂 6y
See All 16 Comments
Meredith3 @Reviewsbylola I am pretty sure that was the main reason for his first murder 😳 6y
emilyhaldi Lolol I shouldn‘t laugh but your blurbs always get me!!! 6y
MStew This happened near where i grew up and i actually knew amish who knew him 😨 this book blew my mind 6y
Meredith3 @meghan2714 omg wow! That‘s nuts!! Now I‘d imagine they were pretty hush hush about it, or did anyone ever talk to you about what happened? Also hello from another fellow Ohioan! 6y
MStew The amish knew about it , but I didn't know until I found book. But when we mentioned it to amish friends they knew about it and knew his family etc. Spooky and hello!!! From Ohio!!🤘 6y
Meredith3 @meghan2714 that is so cool in a really messed up way! 💀🖤 6y
MStew @Meredith3 lol right!!!!! 6y
Cinfhen I‘m honestly not sure how a nice Jewish heretic inspired you to think of an angry Amish murderer YET here we are 😂😂😂 book sounds fascinating 6y
Meredith3 @Cinfhen I think it was the whole being shunned by your community/religious group thing. Both religions seem pretty intense too 😹 6y
Mdargusch I have this book if you want to borrow 😁 6y
Meredith3 @Mdargusch omg you do?!? How was it? Yes I would love to borrow it! 6y
Mdargusch I haven‘t read it yet. I read Killing In Amish Country though and thought I needed to read this one too. 6y
Cinfhen Oh, I TOTALLY get THAT connection 🙌🏻 6y

Shulem Deen was a member of the Skverers, one of the most Hasidic sects in the US. His religion taught him that questions were not permitted and that he should #layallyourloveonme (me being his faith ✡️... stick with me here). But after being married and having 5 children he beings to question his religious beliefs and is shunned from his community as a heretic. I‘m 60 pages into this memoir and I‘m hooked!!
#ABBAinAugust

emilyhaldi Also my #booked2018 choice for #blameitonlitsy or in this case #blameitoncindy 😉 6y
Meredith3 Has Jaime read this? Also this reminds me of a fun Amish murderer... 6y
Insightsintobooks ...being able to question is one thing I Love about Judaism. The sages having questions is all over the Talmud. Sad that he was thrown out of his community for something that should be encouraged. I haven't read this, but it is on my TBR. 6y
See All 13 Comments
Reviewsbylola I can‘t imagine the idea of not questioning faith? 6y
Cinfhen I‘m sooo glad you‘re loving this book!!! It‘s really an eye opener 😢I don‘t want to say too much until you‘re done. 6y
Cinfhen @Insightsintobooks you have to read this book! Unfortunately , It‘s NOT surprising how his community reacts. In their eyes his actions are transgressions. It made me sooooo mad 😡😡 6y
emilyhaldi @Insightsintobooks @Cinfhen Have you seen the Netflix documentary One Of Us?? It follows 3 people who have decided to leave the Hasidic community and the retaliation is shocking. They are threatened, harassed, etc. Its a very interesting doc if you‘re interested. 6y
Insightsintobooks @Cinfhen I've put it at the top of my TBR. @emilyhaldi No, I haven't, I'll have to watch it. 6y
Cinfhen My hubby watched @emilyhaldi @Insightsintobooks he said it was pretty horrifying. It‘s sad how extreme some people take their religious beliefs and turn it into something else completely. I‘m pretty sure God never intended for any of this militant approach to religion. 6y
Centique @Cinfhen amen to that Cindy. I totally agree. I think every religion has its share of people who go too far - especially when they hurt and isolate others 😨 Great choice @emilyhaldi stacked! 6y
Insightsintobooks @Cinfhen I agree, I am very interested in reading this book. 6y
Mdargusch Sounds fascinating! 6y

Memoirs of a Dutiful Daughter | Simone de Beauvoir
post image

#layallyourloveonme I read this book years and years ago and enjoyed it. de Beauvoir‘s memoir chronicles her childhood and coming of age and even the beginning of her relationship with Jean Paul Sartre. Quite the odd couple, they were together for decades but never married or lived together. I‘ve seen their relationship called a “soul marriage”. ❤️❤️ #abbainaugust

batsy I want to read this! ❤️ 6y
Cinfhen They look mean and creepy... that photo seems sinister ~ don‘t U agree @Meredith3 ??? (edited) 6y
Cathythoughts I‘m a fan of both ... but @cinfhen the pic is a bit creepy 6y

Meredith3 @Cinfhen agreed! 🖤😸💀 6y
Cinfhen Thanks for backing me @Cathythoughts I‘m pretty good at reading people...I think I‘m unto something @Reviewsbylola @meredith3😁😂 6y
emilyhaldi @Cinfhen I really appreciate that @Meredith3 is your go-to judge of the “creep factor” 😂 that‘s perfect 👍🏻 6y
Cinfhen Hahahahaha @emilyhaldi 6y
Meredith3 @emilyhaldi @Cinfhen I know a thing or two about what it takes to be creepy 😺😸😹 6y

Six Wives | David Starkey
post image

Henry thinks #LayAllYourLoveOnMe . But, his idea of love is kind of skewed. He demands complete devotion from his wives, but he doesn‘t necessarily have to return it. Starkey writes an incredible history of Henry‘s six wives. #ABBAinAugust

Meredith3 Who doesn‘t love King Henry VIII 🤴🏼❤️ 6y
Cinfhen He‘s like the lonely polygamist...book sounds great 👍🏻 6y

#AbbaInAugust Day 9: A #LayAllYourLoveOnMe peculiar love story, this unlikely pair would have to deal with each other‘s strangenesses and play around with each other‘s boundaries, seeing just how much one can bend without breaking, as they gradually understand and glimpse a vision of a life without the other. My full review here: https://wp.me/pDlzr-5nA

#abbainaugust #layallyourloveonme

This is a real blast from the past. I read this in my teen years and loved it. The idea that a music idol could fall in love with a teenage girl seemed romantic and idyllic. Priscilla thought she‘d found the one that would #layallyourloveonme Unfortunately there would be other loves and my heart broke for Priscilla. Only one side of the story I know but it was a good roller coaster of a memoir!

Meredith3 Sounds dreamy! 6y
Cinfhen This really was a crazy roller coaster relationship ~ I bet the memoir is fascinating & who could forget their daughter married Michael Jackson !!!! 6y
Purrfectpages This book has been a long standing joke in my family...not because of the book itself, but bc my mother had a copy of this while I was growing up that she was “reading” forever. Needless to say, I didn‘t get my reading gene from her. 😝 6y

Mdargusch That was a pretty crazy love story back in the day! 6y
Reviewsbylola This definitely sounds compelling! 6y
Reviewsbylola Lol I have a coworker that‘s been reading 50 Shades of Grey since she was pregnant. Her daughter is 4 now. 😂😂 We keep urging her to move on. 🤣🤣 @Purrfectpages 6y
emilyhaldi This sounds like a good one!! 6y
Centique @Cinfhen I had forgotten that! 😳😳 6y
Centique @Purrfectpages oh that‘s hilarious! 😂😂 6y
Purrfectpages @Reviewsbylola maybe she‘s hopefully it will inspire a second? 😆 @Centique the joke has yet to die in my family! 😝 6y
Reggie We all hope the King/Prince we meet is all we hoped he‘d be but sometimes he just isn‘t. I loved her in The Naked Gun Movies and wondered why she didn‘t do other acting gigs. Nice post. 6y
Centique @Reggie thanks Reggie. Yes, I wonder how she has been getting on since then. The spotlight and scrutiny have moved on haven‘t they? I‘ll go ask Dr Google... 😊 6y

arlenefinnigan @emilyhaldi oh yes. It's one of the oddest books I've ever read. Very dark but fascinating. And it really isn't about vegetarianism! 6y
