There were so many disturbing things happening, this story wasn't beautiful. I still found this book extremely hard to put down. This was extremely intriguing and overall really pleasurable to read.

Next up in #JumpStart2022 is the new Shea Ernshaw. I loved her first two books, let‘s see what strange delights are in store with this one!

Bk9 of January2022 & #JumpStart2022 is done too! This pretty little hardcover has been on my #MountTBRShelvesOfDoom since it was released in 2018🤭So glad I finally read it, it was a lot darker than I was expecting. A female line of witches on an island in the Salish Sea learn that the price of using dark magic is blood & pain. Pitting mother against daughter it‘s very grim but also beautifully written. #BookspinBingo #Pop22 #BeatTheBacklist2022👇

Bk8 of January 2022 & #JumpStart2022 is done! I actually finished this last night just haven‘t had a chance to post till now. This was hard to read at times, the topic, FGM & it‘s practice in England specifically, is a very emotional subject but the author handles it extremely well. A few storylines are drawn together into a great instalment in the Lynley series, here‘s hoping for a 22nd! #BookspinBjngo #Doublespin #Pop22 #SeriesRead2022👇

Creativity | John Cleese

13/150 A short but highly entertaining book about developing a creative mind. John Cleese also narrates the book with a wonderful dry wit. It's only an hour long audiobook, so I would recommend it for work commutes or maybe an evening stroll (if you live somewhere that isn't currently buried in snow). 3 ⭐⭐⭐💫
13th book for #Jumpstart2022 @Lizpixie @Clwojick 28th book for #WinterCosy @PuddleJumper

Finished my next book in the #ReadAfrica2022. Could have been used for either Egypt or Libya, but am using it for #Libya.

A good book in the Scot Harvath series. A good hunt for terrorists across a number of countries. A bit of a surprise as to who the terrorists was, Scot find this quite a frustrating hunt as he was working with people who didn‘t want him there.

The Old Man & the Sea | Ernest Hemingway

Somehow I've never read this classic, despite it being short and despite it being on my shelves for over a decade, since my husband owned this copy when we got married haha I'm not sure how Hemingway managed to make me completely engrossed in a story about an old man catching a fish, but he did - I could barely put this one down! The ending did make me rather mad, though, but most classics do haha

OutAndAbout I read this in high school and only remember it as boring. Sounds like it might be worth a reread? 1d

TheAromaofBooks @OutAndAbout - I can definitely see this as a book that I wouldn't have appreciated in high school, because it is, objectively, rather boring haha But as an adult I was a lot more interested in the Old Man's struggles, contemplations on aging and loneliness, and the Boy's genuine love and compassion for the Old Man. I think some authors just can't be truly appreciated by teens, and Hemingway may be one of them. 1d
OutAndAbout @TheAromaofBooks sold. It‘s going on this years TBR. 1d
Roary47 This was always my favorite story in school. We read it two different times. I‘m glad you had the opportunity to check it off. 💛 1d
