A Book Lover's Journal | Addison Wesley
post image

@Lindy posted about keeping a written record of one's reading history today. Here's mine - I started the first journal in January 1993 and I'm just about ready to start on number 16. Does anyone else keep a written reading history? 😄

Nat_Reads That's beautiful! I wish I had been doing that ❤️👏👏 7y
queerbookreader I wish 😅 I love the organization though 7y

CatLadyBibliophile I am so bad at keeping journals. SO BAD. 7y
LauraBeth I WISH! 7y
daena Amazing!! 7y
Simona 😍😍😍😍 7y
teebe Oh wow. I keep track of my reading in various ways (including journals) but it's all mismatched. This is so neat and organized, I wish I had thought to get matching journals! 7y
rubyslippersreads Gorgeous! I wish I'd done this. 7y
Lachesis @CatLadyBibliophile you are not alone! 7y
saresmoore Leah, you are quickly advancing in the ranks of my favorite humans. 7y
Bookcation74 Wow!! 😍😍😍 7y
readinginthedark My list is one notebook with just titles and authors, since Dec 1998! I keep my reading journals separate and they're much more inconsistent. 7y
Lindy So organized! Mine are like @teebe 's - all mismatched. 7y
KVanRead Wow! So impressive and classy. We at Litsy would expect nothing less of @leahbergen though. 😍 (edited) 7y
Megabooks Agreed @KVanRead 👍🏻👍🏻📚📚 7y
drokka I've tried doing the journal thing but I'm horrible at keeping it up to date. 7y
MaureenMc 😍 7y
johnnie_cakes I tried last year, and I think I made it until April. So I just keep a running note on my phone and add a book to the list when I finish it. 7y
TheLibrarian Just started this year to keep a reading journal. I'm good at writing the titles and rating but not so much about the reviews for some reason. 7y
MicheleinPhilly I used to but the internet made me lazy. 😞 7y
Graciouswarriorprincess I do but all in one journal so far. Year four for me. 7y
Melissa_J Wow! That's amazing. Where did you get the journals from? I just started keeping written track this year, but I've been tracking electronically for years. 7y
emtobiasz I journal in general, but the last few pages of every notebook are for the list of books read while I kept that journal. No reviews/star ratings, though-- I save those for Goodreads. 7y
LibrarianRyan I used to keep a print copy but it got to big and crazy. So now only Goodreads. 7y
DebinHawaii So impressive! I wish I was so organized! 👍📚📚📚 7y
Flaneurette Wow! This is awesome, I'm always curious about how people keep track of their reading but I never do it because I can't decide on a method. So it's Goodreads by default for me but I only have the last few years on there. I want to be you when I grow up! 7y
batsy @saresmoore @LeahBergen Absolutely same! Just looking at this picture makes me so happy. So impressive. 7y
batsy Also have you been able to find the exact same journal over the years? #importantquestion 😁 7y
Hooked_on_books I do, but I just jot down titles. Nothing extensive. 7y
britt_brooke Love this! I only keep lists of titles in my iPhone. 😱 And now I have a few months of billet journal pages, but nothing extensive. 7y
LeahBergen @Nat_Reads Aww, thanks! 😊 7y
LeahBergen @vivastory No! But I'm totally going to. 😄 7y
LeahBergen @lemonlime799 Ha! Thanks! 😊 7y
LeahBergen @daena @Simona Thank you! 😘 7y
LeahBergen @teebe I think any sort of record is wonderful (even if it's mismatched). Mine just sort of happened to match by accident at first and then I had to keep it up. 😄 7y
LeahBergen @Lachesis 😂😂 7y
LeahBergen @saresmoore You are already near the top of my favourite human ranking. 😘 7y
LeahBergen @Bookcation74 Thank you! 😊 7y
LeahBergen @readinginthedark That's awesome! 👏🏻 7y
LeahBergen @Lindy But still lovely! 😘 7y
LeahBergen @KVanRead Haha!! 😂 Thank you! 😘 7y
LeahBergen @drokka You should try a notebook with just book titles and the date you read it. It's fun to look back on years later. 😘 7y
LeahBergen @MaureenMc Thank you! 😊 7y
LeahBergen @johnnie_cakes Any sort of list is wonderful to look back on! 😊 7y
LeahBergen @TheLibrarian Yeah, I will sometimes write very little about a book. Just having the title and date is wonderful to look back on, though! 7y
LeahBergen @MicheleinPhilly 😂😂 I know! 7y
LeahBergen @Graciouswarriorprincess Awesome!! 👏🏻👏🏻 7y
LeahBergen @Melissa_J I initially bought the first one when I was travelling ... and then I found the second. Now I have to hunt them down used on the internet. I don't know what I will do when I can't find them anymore. 😬 7y
LeahBergen @emtobiasz That's wonderful! 😍 7y
LeahBergen @LibrarianRyan Awesome! 👍🏼 7y
LeahBergen @DebinHawaii Thank you! 😘 7y
LeahBergen @Flaneurette Haha!! Thank you! Start writing a list of just book titles and date read. It's great to look back on. 😊 7y
LeahBergen @batsy Aww! Thank you. 😘 I have to hunt them down online now (used) and dread the day that I can no longer find them. 😬 7y
LeahBergen @Hooked_on_books Perfect. It's the listing of titles and dates that I find most important to look back on. 👍🏼 7y
LeahBergen @britt_brooke Thank you! 😘 You do such lovely bullet journals - you should add just a basic list of titles and dates. It's fun to look five years back to see what you were reading on that date. 😊 7y
Izai.Amorim 🙇🙇🙇 Any chance of publishing it someday? That's also art, you know? 7y
elkeOriginal You should buy some extras to last you all your days - I think all your Litsy pals can now assist in the hunt for you! 7y
RohitSawant That is so terrific!! 7y
IamIamIam I keep index cards with titles on them. I started in 2007 before I got married and started keeping dates with them a few years ago. 😄📚 7y
britt_brooke @LeahBergen Thank you! And I should that. 👍🏻 7y
Jess_Read_This This is so incredibly cool, Leah. I don't keep a reading journal. I've always been so bad at journaling but want to start. Any tips to stay on track with it? 7y
LeahBergen @Izai.Amorim Thank you! I've often thought about doing something with them but ... who knows? 😄 7y
LeahBergen @elkeo I know! I'll have to go on the hunt again. I'll keep doing posts that show the cover - that way it will stay embedded in Litsy minds if anyone ever comes across one at a thrift store. 😂 7y
LeahBergen @rohit-sawant Thank you! 😊 7y
LeahBergen @IamIamIam That's great!! 👏🏻 7y
LeahBergen @Jess_Read_This Thanks! I automatically write down the title, author and date started whenever I start a new book. Some books I will write a bit more about but others will only get a line or two. Over the years I've cut myself some slack! I've realized that what I write about a book is not as important when looking back as where I was or who gave me the book, etc. Oh, and I will often do a "catch-up" on 3 or 4 books. ? 7y
Jess_Read_This @LeahBergen Thanks for the tips! If I ever come across these in my used bookstore travels, I'll be sure to snag a copy for you! 7y
mrp27 I do too. Been book journaling since 2002. 📚📚✏️✏️ 7y
LeahBergen @Jess_Read_This Ooo, thanks!! 😄 7y
LeahBergen @mrp27 Yay!!! 👏🏻👏🏻 7y
Sydsavvy Wow!!! 7y
LectricSheep This is so cool!!! I love the idea of a series of analog reading journals. Spreadsheets are so much less romantic. 💕 7y
