32 pages of great colorful drawings. What would you do if you were a horse. It's a cute book for 4 to 8 years old. #ISpyBingoNov @TheAromaofBooks

I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it.

It was a good book haul day! Always a pleasure hitting up the bookstore with @aeeklund along for the ride. Pretty sure I cleared out most of the horse inventory at our local shop. 🤣🐎💚

“It is the first day of November and so, today, someone will die.”

I knew going into this #threelistthursday that I was going to have a low score. I'm super picky about spooky reads. But I didn't think it would be this low. 🤣🫠
Here's probably my top three from the list. All three are superbly written:
👻 Our Shade of Night by Mariana Enriquez
🕷 Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
🎃 Jamaica Inn by Daphne Du Maurier
I also enjoy the Brontës around this time.

I saw this picture on Facebook and wrote this #haiku about it.

I loved this book as a kid, but it's darker than I remembered. I reread it w/my kids and we were all on the edge of our seats. The author's ability to give the reader empathy for horses is beautiful. We found ourselves reflecting on how people treat animals or those with less power is a true reflection of who they are as a person.
“If we see cruelty or wrong that we have the power to stop, & do nothing, we make ourselves sharers in the guilt.”
“She was truly one of them. At last she was where she belonged and was very happy.”
Great for teaching legends and their connection to culture and values. It also opens discussion about respect for animals, Native American traditions, and how illustrations support storytelling.

This story is a legend, since it explains how a girl from a Plains tribe became part of the wild horse herd she adored. Legends often mix human experiences with elements of the natural and spiritual world, and here the girl‘s love for horses leads to her transformation. The tale reflects cultural values of respect for animals, freedom, and harmony with nature, while the illustrations highlight the beauty and spirit of the plains and the horses.
