This was a fun read! Lots of angst, but like…light angst? If that makes sense. I‘d forgotten a lot about the first book, so the refresher at the beginning was useful instead of annoying, but it might not have been if I‘d read closer together. We learn a lot more about the personalities of our three main characters, and lines are drawn between them all. All 300-some pages are a single day, which is a bit dizzying, but it‘s a good read overall.
Finally! I have been waiting for the story of Dalinar‘s missing memories. And that chapter with Shallan and Wit… perfection.

Still enjoying this series.
Particularly like when Violet‘s nerdiness is what gets them out of a jam, rather than the squad‘s overall badassery at combat (on or off dragon). Feeling like the final twist/pseudo cliffhanger wasn‘t nearly as bold or surprising as the last two books‘ endings. But it was enough for me to be bummed I have to wait to know more.
Picked up this sequel for a buddy read, and gosh, it‘s just so pretty. Delightful😍 Now, if only I could remember what happened in the first book…
I love fantasy. But I have a very strong distaste for smarmy, poorly written romance. Yet here I am, all sucked into a romantsy series. Because vampire hunger games! I mean I was 70% in before I had to encounter “the rigid length of his desire”. So I have hardly rolled my eyes at all. Great character development makes all the difference.
Surprisingly I enjoyed this one. We‘ll see if that lasts but I‘m not holding my breath.
I‘m still really liking this one. Except… the Dalinar visions are getting old. I could edit those out and be pretty happy still. But I won‘t. I‘m sure they are worth it later. Thankfully I love all the time we spend with bridge four, so it‘s helping me to get through the less interesting parts. #CosmereBuddyRead
This is a very enjoyable fantasy, a huge Magical showdown is brewing that will change the world order, but someone still has to milk the goat in the morning. Sullivan does a great job of balancing everything, focusing in on a tight cast of characters who we can engage with but have enough variety in POV to illuminate the story. It's not grimdark, it is more a Tolkeinish mix of dark and cozy, but with a smooth modern reading style.
