This “picture book for adults” is Peter Sís‘ adaptation of 13th century Persian poem by Farid Us-Din Attar. Mystical and philosophical search for answers only to realize they lie within. But not until a long journey comes to an end. I am very curious about the full text of the poem. The art is absolutely beautiful.

@CounterfeitNickel and I did a dinner + used bookstore date last night and picked up this beautiful book, then read it together last night. The illustrations are gorgeous, the pages are thick and textured, and the story (a take on a 12th c. Persian epic) magical and weird. Glad we bumped into this! I'd like the read the translated original next. Off to a good start with my #BFC21 goal of reading for fun and my #Scarathlon #TeamSlaughter reading!

#MusicalNewYear Day 11: For #FeedTheBirds, here is an illustrated version of Persian poet, Farid Ud-Din Attar‘s poem. In this epic poem, Attar imagined himself transformed into a hoopoe bird, holding a conference with all the other birds in the universe to seek answers to life‘s most important questions from “a king who has all the answers.” My review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-j0A

This book is GORGEOUS, from its detailed illustrations to the thick, textured paper it‘s printed on. Wow!

Another suggestion from @bookriot ‘s Get Booked podcast.

First completed read for University with Beowulf. I understand why it's called an epic poem now.

I had never heard of this poem and found this book by happy accident in the art section of the book store. I read it in one sitting and I KNOW I'm going to be going through it and reading it again
