pickI'm so glad the library had this in audio: the memoir of queer, Muslim, drag queen Glamrou (with brief detours via marine biology and Eton), it felt only right to hear their story told in their own voice. It's courageous, moving, inspiring, and dark with flashes of humour.
This is what's great about reading: 45+ years with a book in my hand and still I get to be surprised by the paths they lead me along.

I found this recording of an evening at Symphony Space with Justin Vivian Bond on Hoopla today. I became aware of Justin through the movie Shortbus. I have been interested in reading their memoir Tango, but haven't yet. This audio gave some insight into the contents of the book and their writing process.

1* I was 15 and it was for a work experience program. They assigned me to a daycare at first but I only worked there for 3 days as I witnessed and reported abuse. My supervisors from the program felt bad about having placed me there so they allowed me to work directly in their office as an office clerk.

Queens and their art under greater attack than ever, but Goodman starts in the 19th century to show that drag has been and will always be here. I enjoyed following the trends from Jazz Age vaudeville to the AIDS crisis and 90s supermodel era. Cashing in on Drag Race appearances is also discussed.
