A Writer's Diary | Virginia Woolf
post image

“I will not be ‘famous‘, ‘great‘. I will go on adventuring, changing, opening my mind and my eyes, refusing to be stamped and stereotyped. The thing is to free one's self: to let it find its dimensions, not be impeded.”

Easter Egg/Bonus: This is the very first thing I thought of when I read this post. Perfect Strangers, anyone? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mvum8AK2pjE

Called a "political travelogue" and "literary criticism with solid field reporting," this is the story of the year Emma Larkin spent in Burma, following in the footsteps of George Orwell. (He lived and worked there for 5 years in the 1920s, as an Imperial Policeman.) It seems the author might have said on her travels: see #howfarillgo and #dontstopmenow

RaimeyGallant I just finally (now that I'm on the web version) read the quote in your profile, lol. 5mo

Run | Blake Jack Crouch
post image

#dontstopmenow #maymoviemagic

A suspected virus has turned a large number of citizens into bloodthirsty, ruthless killers. Dee and Jack flee their home in terror with their two kids in tow, but nowhere seems safe.

This is my 6th Crouch and possibly my favorite. As per usual, I couldn‘t put this down. It‘s very graphic and depressing at times, so not for everyone.

Kentucky Derby edition. I don't usually follow horse racing, but happened to be out on Saturday with a friend who had money on Country House, so naturally pretty happy, even though no one stopped Maximum Security besides instant replay.
As for the book- I added it purely on the strength of the recommendations- not sure I would have chosen it otherwise.
Side note: 'Don't Stop Me Now'- pretty good horse name! 🏇

Suet624 I really liked this book. 5mo
Cinfhen Lingers on my shelf!! And yay for your friend!!! And great #HorseName 5mo

Reggie I work at a casino, but had Saturday off, but when I came back Sunday, a lot of the regulars who always chat with me were PISSED. A lot of them lost money and there's a lot of conspiracy theory going on. It was kinda funny. 5mo
rohit-sawant Awesome pick! 👏🏼👏🏼 5mo
Billypar @Suet624 I've heard a lot of very enthusiastic recommendations, so that caught my eye. Not on my shelf yet @Cinfhen but I hope to get to it at some point! 5mo
Billypar @Reggie I can imagine! It must sting all the more thinking you've won, only to have it taken away 😬 5mo

Let‘s go for the literal today. #DontStopMeNow
This looks an interesting romantic comedy. Has anyone read it?

#DontStopMeNow, I just got back from the doctor, and it doesn‘t look like I‘m going to expire soon, so I‘m celebrating with coffee in my favorite mug that I won during the last @24in48 #readathon! Thanks y‘all! I love it. 🥰🥰 #MayMovieMagic

wanderinglynn Very cool mug! And glad to hear things went well. 💚 5mo
Megabooks @wanderinglynn Thank you! 😊😊 I‘m still mulling over if there‘s a way I can do your book/fitness challenge. My right foot is still in a boot pending an MRI Friday and a doctor‘s appointment next week. I don‘t know if I‘m going to be able to start physical therapy or not. I do walk to the end of my block once a day with my dog. Normally, I walk 1-2 miles 4-5 x a week, but I‘m not sure when I‘ll get back to that. Thoughts? I‘d really like to do it! 5mo
wanderinglynn @Megabooks a couple other folks also have physical limitations. So I opened up the fitness to include nutritional fitness (examples: veggies x times per week, take supplements x days) or mental fitness (ex. meditate x days or x minutes). Or if you want physical, what about chair yoga? Or mat Pilates? Some activity where you‘re not standing/impacting your foot. 5mo
Megabooks @wanderinglynn Thanks! I have some ideas! 5mo
Reviewsbylola I‘m glad you got good news at the doctor! 5mo

This is an interesting account of a lesser-known event in the history of the women‘s suffrage campaign, the Great Pilgrimage. Over 6 wks in 1913, hundreds of women (anti-militancy) marched to London from all over the country to prove how many respectable, law-abiding women wanted the vote. They couldn‘t #LetItBe the way things were, and better #DontStopMeNow as they campaigned to be given the vote on equal terms as men. Not #WithoutMe !

Cathythoughts Very good. 👍🏻♥️ 5mo
