Quick, fast-paced novella set in an alternate Free New Orleans. A wonderful blend of Haitian, Carribean, African and New Orleans influences. Highly recommend. #DiverseReading #OwnVoices

I loved this book. The writing had a quiet simplicity that made for the beautiful tale of the son of an immigrant and his family. Just a gorgeous book. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ #diversereading

Making my re-debut on litsy. Starting birdie by Tracy Lindberg for the #bookbingo I'm participating in throughout the year with my cousin and her friends. This one is for the book by an indigenous author category. #halfbloodbingo #diversereading #ebooks

Spending a little time distracting myself from the actual books I need to be finishing. #books #booklover #diversereading

Wow! So Interesting, hard to read in places but so glad I did. There aren‘t many narratives of slavery in the words of the captured themselves. This powerful story as told to the legendary Zoe‘s Neale Hurston is a must read. #ownvoices #diversereading

Carleneishere I live and work in Mobile, and my museum touches on the story of the Clotilda. One of my favorite bars is called Kazoola... I‘m dying to read this! 7mo

This was an unexpected thrift store find, a book I didn‘t know I needed. The protagonist is a teenage girl who has selective mutism, having suffered from the condition myself for many years without knowing what it was that was wrong with me, reading this novel touched me more deeply than I anticipated. There‘s something soothing in seeing aspects of one‘s experience reflected on the page. 💘💓💗
