I tried reading this for a book with surrealism for #halfbloodbingo but couldn't finish it. Sucks because it was the last one I needed to complete the board. But the characters were just cringey. Excellent writing as a craft but the people were so...well, not for me #bookbingo #dnf

Reading my first #noraroberts book and really enjoying it so far. Might use this one for #halfbloodbingo for a romance. #bookbingo #amreadingparanormalromance. Also including this in this month's reading goal of first-time reads, where I read books by authors everyone but me has read

Picked this one up for #halfbloodbingo for a book with surrealism. I wasn't sure what surrealism was but once I started reading this I went, "oh, it's this." Very well written and really interesting so far, but there's one plot thread I'm rather uncomfortable with. I hope it doesn't go down the road I think it is ? #bookbingo #diversereading

Pickpick

I really enjoyed the richness and romanticism of the language, but it was not a romance as I'd been led to believe. Instead I used it for "a book with a food in the title" for #halfbloodbingo. But overall a delightful read. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Ok, I picked this book for the romance category for #halfbloodbingo because it's been shelved as romance on Goodreads by several users, but 200 pgs in and I haven't seen the romance, not in the sense of romance novel. I hope it doesn't end up being romance between vianne and the priest because I have strong thoughts about that story arc... #bookbingo

Started the #audiobook for haunting of hill house for #halfbloodbingo with @jmtrivera and friends for the category a book that's been adapted for the screen. I loved the Netflix series so I wanted to read the source material. Interesting so far, but I must confess at this point in my reading, I liked the show better. Thoughts? #amreadinghorror #shirleyjackson #classichorror

Airport reading! This is for my #bookbingo "a book written by a journalist." Ta-Nehisi Coates We Were Eight Years In Power is such a smart read so far. #halfbloodbingo #amreadingnonfiction #pocauthors #amreading

Pickpick

This was a smart collection of essays that covers the question: what's the difference between empathy and tragedy voyeurism? The essays cover topics like sympathy for those suffering illness, even made up ones, tourism, and wounded women. Great read! #halfbloodbingo #essays #bookbingo

For #bookbingo "a book of essays" I chose the empathy exams by Leslie Jamison. Still reading the titular essay but it's incredibly well written so far. #halfbloodbingo #readingchallenge #nonfiction
