#Bail but not far enough to officially claim it. The introduction was so interesting, Lange had an amazing life and seems like a truly cool woman. She was a loud and proud anti-fascist who also challenged gender and sexuality norms. She was related to and highly influenced by Borges (who I have not read). This book feels very stream of conscience and I cannot figure out what is going on. Going to keep it though and maybe try again someday.

Sorry, not sorry to 92% of littens. 26% in and I just don‘t care. I was listening to the audiobook as fast as I could (3x speed) and it still felt like it was just crawling along at a snails pace. The bells instead of hours just feels pointless. Just say hours already.

GingerAntics @Aconight 2x is normal for me. I think it‘s a benefit of my ADHD brain taking things in super fast… but 3x usually it my upper limit and not comfortable. Somehow, this was still comfortable, but uncomfortable in how slow it felt. I just wanted the author to get on with it already. 5mo

GingerAntics Of the 12 stories, only 6 can be readily found independent of the book in any form. Of those 6, three are either misnamed or given the wrong location, and a fourth is heavily changed, to the point of being a different story. The final story is part of Epiphany celebrations in Italy and nothing new to Catholic school pupils who had creative religion teachers. 8mo

GingerAntics The “solstice” songs at the end are Christmas carols she changed some of the words to. The activities are slightly augmented Christmas traditions from around the world. She has sources, but even those don‘t come up for half the stories, so she‘s either changed them beyond recognition or combined multiple stories. 8mo

ravenlee I read a lot of homeschool books/blogs; or I should say, I try to read a lot. Many of them get slammed shut in just a few pages, but it‘s usually overly religious twaddle that turns me off. 13mo

It was sad, he was doing well besides that. It‘s sad that he doesn‘t realise his arguments against brainwashing are left arguments for homeschooling/unschooling too. Too bad non-Christian kids are the ones actually getting brainwashed. 13mo
