A fascinating read about the lives of Polly Nichols, Annie Chapman, Elizabeth Stride, Catherine Eddowes and Mary Jane Kelly. History has remembered these women only by their deaths, Rubenhold focuses on their lives and the lives of the poor in Victorian England. Highly recommended reading! I was struck by how little, unfortunately, society's attitudes towards the poor and towards female victims have changed.

TheKidUpstairs Thanks to @Birdsong28 for the recommendation for my #YearofReadingLitsy 4y
Birdsong28 It's such a good book. My best book of 2019! Glad you enjoyed it. @TheKidUpstairs 😘📚📖 4y
Cathythoughts On my TBR ... it‘s unbelievable how little changes... I often think “ but that couldn‘t be still happening now “ & then I feel like Pollyanna, all the injustice & abuse continues.. (edited) 4y

A fascinating, beautiful, heartfelt tale that asks you to think about family, love, identity, self, lies, and truth. Thank you to @TheBookHippie and @Cinfhen for the #YearofReadingLitsy recommendation!

Here's my #BookSpin and #DoubleSpin picks for March. I hope these badass women can lift me out of my current book bailing funk!

And as a bonus, The Alice Network also counts towards my #YearofReadingLitsy project, as it was a gift from the lovely @Sills 😁🎉

Suet624 Two really good ones. You should do fine. 4y

One of the few books that I actually completed without bailing in February! Marianne and Connell captured and broke my heart so many times throughout this short novel about love, friendship, trauma, communication, acceptance, and understanding.

Thanks to @Kalalalatja and @readordierachel for the #YearofReadingLitsy recommendation!

BookishMe Yes this was ❤️! 4y

This was just what I needed! A fun, quick read about a young girl finding her voice and girls coming together to support and encourage each other, all inspired by the 90s Riotgrrrrls.

#YearofReadingLitsy - thank you to @monalyisha for this gem!

Sometimes it feels good to read a book that strips you raw, emotionally speaking. This is one of those books. The story, the characters, and the language are so emotionally wrought that it is both difficult and beautiful to read. I look forward to seeking out Vuong's poetry.

After the emotional rawness of On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous, I needed something fun and uplifting. So I'm starting on this one for my #YearofReadingLitsy. This was a gift from the one and only @monalyisha (and her Moxie) and I'm excited for some fierce riotgrrrl reading!

Bonus: it's also a #OneWordTitle for #ReadwithMrBook @MrBook
