"It's immoral to equate black grievance and white fear like this. It's just immoral." The quote is taken from a segment where the main character recalls the 2008 election of Barack Obama while he gives a speech on race. I can't help but read this now and think about the current election results. I can't help but let this influence my thoughts about next steps moving forward in life. #readinginfluence #writersofcolor

I shied away from YA titles because I never thought I saw myself in them but writers like Nicola Yoon are writing amazing stories where the protagonist resembles me in some way. This is a beautiful story of what happens when opposites collide & fate runs it's course. I loved getting lost in the whimsy of young love, hope and optimism in the day & a half it took me to finish this book. This is a must read!

Cute f/f romance! Badass businesswoman Kenya is successful in almost all aspects of her life except for romance. She ends up with two romantic interests - a wealthy Italian businesswoman who can give her anything she wants (but may be a philanderer) and an attractive bartender/music producer who is fun and honest. She tries to convince herself she wants the financially successful woman but can't deny her feelings for bartender Simone. 😳

Mixing up brownies, enjoying a glass of wine (which I've clearly already drank most of) and finally starting to listen to this audiobook! I adore Janet Mock and I've already started tearing up in the first ten minutes of this book. I can already tell it's going to be fantastic and I've kind of regretted starting it while I still have about 60 pages of my current book left to read! 👀#diverseathon #transbooks #writersofcolor #queerbooks

MrBook Nice pairing here. 8y
