Tell Me Everything | Elizabeth Strout

Weekend reading

Tell Me Everything the last book for me to read on the Women's Prize shortlist. It didn't win but people seem to love it, and my ex- MIL sent me a copy after she read it so I am going to try it. I read Olive years ago and feel meh about it.

People in the Room is a #WomenInTranslation book from Argentina

Ruthiella Strout is hit and miss for me. 3d
ChaoticMissAdventures @Ruthiella I have only read 2 now, having finished this today, I understand why people like her, I just don't enjoy her stuff so much. 2d

#WomenInTranslation month this reminded me a bit of Elena Knows it might be the South American setting, or the traveling, but it gives the same vibe.

I liked the bits with Maju and her travels with the child best, I struggled a bit to care about the mother and her affair, but the reasoning behind both women's actions pulled me along. I liked the language and tone shift between POVs and thought overall it is well done

BarbaraBB I liked this one too. Didn‘t love it though, as I expected I would (edited) 4d
ChaoticMissAdventures @BarbaraBB I didn't love it either. I am not sure what is going on this year, I am reading great things but I am not falling in love with any particular books. 4d
BarbaraBB I know what you mean. I think I read less than five 5⭐️ books so far this year 🤷🏻‍♀️ 4d

I haven‘t been posting links to my booktube videos lately, mostly because the Litsy app no longer works properly on my iPad, making its use inconvenient. Anyway, Madeleine Thien‘s remarkable book is in the latest episode. (Please let me know if you want me to continue posting links.)

AnneCecilie Can‘t wait to watch this video and your views on Thien‘s latest (edited) 2mo
Butterfinger Yes, I was thinking of you the other day. Children at camp were being taught about folk art. I was giving examples of weaving and dying the wool. 2mo

Lindy @LeahBergen Thanks for your encouragement. 😊 Yes, I have tried deleting and redownloading the app. No luck. It‘s partly functional but I can‘t include images in Litsy on my iPad. 2mo
Lindy @AnneCecilie Thanks! I even have a Norwegian author included in this episode. 🇳🇴 2mo
Lindy @Butterfinger Hi Tammy! It‘s nice to hear that you think of me. ☺️ 2mo

Lindy @marleed Thank you Marlee! ☺️ 2mo
Butterfinger The concept of claiming empathy hurts civilization. That is the scariest thing I have heard. 2mo
