It is a truth universally acknowledged that I love a book that does exactly what it says on the tin. There are a few clunky moments, naturally, but overall the zombies are woven in far more smoothly than you might expect. I particularly enjoyed the expansion of Lady Catherine de Bourgh as a notorious highly-skilled zombie assassin. I hadn't watched since it first came out. Had forgotten how good it was.

Favorite things:
Matt Smith as Parson Collins
I want boots and thigh holster for cosplay.
And Lizzy. Such a badass. ⚔️🎩🧟‍♂️

Catching up with books I‘ve finished this week.
This took me a while to get into, and I wasn‘t sure that I liked it, but after few days after finishing it, I‘m remembering and chuckling at bits of it. I do think something is lost in not being familiar with the books it was parodying, though.

TheEllieMo @Lcsmcat 🤣🤣 I did think we‘d find out what it was!! I suppose it was just a tactic she used to stop family members leaving, the crafty old woman 1mo

Lots of fun for Trekkies/Trekkers - fun twist to the phenomenon of a "red shirt". Wil Wheaton is always a wonderful narrator. But this author MUST find synonyms to "s/he said". Every line of dialogue was followed by "s/he said". Good grief, that was annoying.

I use the Rise app to keep track of my sleep debt. I‘ve never been a good sleeper, but it‘s been really bad the last two weeks. I‘m working on getting my sleep debt down in the coming days.

On a positive note, at least I‘ve kept up with my exercise! 😆

Bookwormjillk Good luck! 3mo
RosePressedPages I‘ve got a similar sleep debt 😅 insomnia has always been a problem for me too 3mo

Funny! Only a little too meta at the end. Definitely a reminder that main character energy is bad for your health and the health of those around you. There's an "aw-shucks" vibe to all of Scalzi's main characters that I'm beginning to grow tired of, however. #LitsySciFiBookClub

Ruthiella Agree that it got too meta in the last part. But until then, it was so much fun. I loved the “Lower Decks” feel it had, in particular. 3mo
Larkken @Ruthiella I still need to watch that!! But then this book has been on my tbr for five years and I only just read it, so there‘s always hope! 3mo
