Delightful! Loved the first book of the Wallflowers series. Somehow I‘ve never read this one. Great listening on #audio while I started to scan all of my books into #libib with the barcode scanner my sweetheart got me for my birthday. So much fun! #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks

I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it (some I‘ve had so long I don‘t even remember why!) Feel free to join in!

#ABookADay2023

KadaGul @Octoberwoman I use #Libib to categorize my book📚. The book 📚 I have picked up because of shiny cover, I am either swapping them on #PBS , Dropping & Picking up from Little Free Libraries around the places I grab food 🍲 or do shopping 🛍️. 10mo

My amazing partner has slowly been logging all the books we have on Libib so we can stop buying multiple copies of the same book because we forgot we had it 😂

I‘m currently cataloging my books and movies. Well what‘s left of my books. I‘m almost finished entering those. Have to do my daughters books next (I only entered one of hers so far). Then I‘ll start on our movies. This app pictured is Home Library. I‘m also entering them in Libib. I haven‘t decided yet which I prefer. Does anyone else cataloging apps? #homelibrary #libib #books #movies

I just discovered #libib -I‘m using this app to catalog my books so I don‘t buy a repeat 😜 Currently all of my books are in storage, the ones I cataloged are the books I have purchased since our move in May. What apps do you all use to keep track of your books?

JoRead Goodreads. Some people don't like it but I love it 6y
GingerAntics Oh wow. I need to look into this app. This is genius. 6y
Reagan I love goodreads and Libib. I have Library Thing but I actually find it clunky to use compared to Libib especially. 6y

RavenLovelyReads @JoRead I use Goodreads too- I never thought about using it to catalog books I own 🤓 kinda feel foolish now! 😂 6y
RavenLovelyReads @GingerAntics I‘m having a lot of fun with it! You can add as many “libraries” as you like and break those down into groups. The free account has a capacity of 5,000 books! Anything over that you need to upgrade to a paying membership. 6y
RavenLovelyReads @Reagan-reads Thanks for the info! I wanted to try Library Things- I actually downloaded it, but I was having so much fun with Libib that I forgot to try it out 🤷🏻‍♀️ 6y
Ubookquitous I used bookpedia on my Mac to inventory all my books - keep track of those read, loaned, borrowed, sold/donated. There is an app that syncs with it called Pocketpedia that I have on iPhone and iPad so I have my collection with me- I can do a quick search and know if I have it 6y
Karkar I use Libib for the books I own and Goodreads to track the ones I read. 6y
GingerAntics @RavenLovelyReads good lord, that is a lot of books. lol 6y
RavenLovelyReads @GingerAntics I saw a meme today that I can totally use! It said “I‘m on the road to recovery. Just kidding! I‘m on the road to the bookstore! 😂 6y
Reagan They have good giveaways, and nothing is perfect but I much prefer Libib to keep track, and then goodreads for more in depth cataloging. 6y

Do any other Littens use any tools to inventory their home library? I stumbled across Libib Friday evening while trying to figure out how to keep track of what books/ebooks I have and spent pretty much all day yesterday adding to it. So far, I'm impressed. And was so excited about it that it's almost embarrassing. Almost. #libib

Rachel.Rencher I tried Libib, but I have nearly 1,000 books and a lot of them don't have barcodes. I got through cataloguing maybe 100 and called it quits. 😂 My husband and I recently moved, so when we were unpacking our books, we wrote every single one down. We now just have a word doc with everything in it. 7y
MinDea I created a google sheet to keep track of all books owned and all books read. I liked making my own so I could keep track of the things I wanted and can access it anywhere since it is on google drive. 7y
Well-ReadNeck I ❤️ LibraryThing. You can use the phone app to bar code scan! 7y

Moony I use Library Thing, too. I love it, but it isn't very social like lovelybooks. 7y
jen_hayes7 @Rachel.Rencher I hear you on that. I was surprised to find a book on crochet that was my great grandmother's, but manual searching is kind of tedious. I'll see how long I last. Kudos to you and your husband! Writing down info on 1,000 books could not have been an easy feat! 7y
jen_hayes7 @MinDea I started off that way! I do think I'll end up with a google sheet eventually. Thank you for mentioning it!! I'm glad that does work and will definitely keep it in mind!! 7y
jen_hayes7 @Well-ReadNeck @Moony Thank you so much for the suggestion!! I'll check out LibraryThing too!! It definitely seems like a popular tool from the feedback I've received. Bar code scanning is the best!!!! @Moony , I hadn't heard of lovelybooks. I'll look into that too!!! 7y
MinDea I use LibraryThing too! I also use Good Reads. Between those 2 and my google sheet I keep track of everything. 7y
jen_hayes7 @MinDea Awesome!! I am on the same track and am so happy that it works. Thank you! Good Reads is the best!! If you feel like another friend on GR, I'm www.goodreads.com/jen_hayes7 🙂 7y
RavenLovelyReads I just started using it! How‘s it working for you? Did you like a different one after trying this one? I‘m really having fun with it 🤓 6y
jen_hayes7 @RavenLovelyReads I‘m so sorry for the delayed reply! I‘ve been enjoying it!! Libib has worked well for me this far so I haven‘t really investigated the other alternatives!! I think it‘s biggest impact so far has been helping to stop me from accidentally buying books I already own. 😳🤣 6y

A #question for all you wonderful Littens out there. I'm putting all my books in #Libib, a #catalogue #ap, and want to know how other people deal with unusual situations. A major reason for keeping my #homelibrary this way is to avoid buying something I already own, in the thrall of book sale fever, so I want to #catalog my #ebooks and #audiobooks as well as individual titles within a collection. My #library has 1000's of titles. Ideas? Share pls.

BookishMarginalia I have no advice to share, just want to wish you luck! 💜 7y
LauraBrook I use LibraryThing to catalog my home library. It's been about 9 years now, and while I still sometimes buy duplicates it's less than it used to be now that I can look things up. I've heard good things about libib, but don't know anyone who uses it. I'm curious to see what others use/say! 7y
Lcsmcat @LauraBrook How do you catalog books? 7y
See All 9 Comments
LauraBrook And, I've got 1000s too, so I know it's not something you want to do more than once. It took me a week or so for the initial input and it's been pretty easy ever since. Fingers crossed you can find something that works for you! 7y
LauraBrook @Lcsmcat Usually by ISBN, and I use Amazon.com for a database most of the time. (This is all through LibraryThing, by the way.) Plus, I use tags for a lot of stuff, and you can sort by data field, and do searches in your library. If you go to LibraryThing.com and look me up (LauraBrook) you can look through my library and poke around. 7y
Lcsmcat Thanks! 7y
Rachbb3 I categorized mine on Goodreads and it has helped but I still buy the occasional duplicate. I think it's just bibliophile's lot in life. 😁😉 7y
Lcsmcat @Rachbb3 I agree, but I try to maximize my book budget! I used to have our library on an Excel spreadsheet. It took me almost a whole summer to do. And then the file got corrupted and I lost it all. 🙀 7y
Rachbb3 Ugh! All that work gone! It makes me appreciate the old way of doing things (keeping a written record) the problem is you can't take it everywhere with you. 😩 7y
