This week‘s #bookreport - nothing finished; lots started.

Sister Outsider surprisingly took me to Uzbekistan in 1976. I‘m looking forward to the #SheSaid conversation tomorrow.

An Empire of the East is my book of choice right now. We‘ve left 1991 East Timor for Iryan Jaya.

Girl Dancing - because sometimes Kyrgyz heartbreak poetry is what we need 🤷🏻‍♀️

Started Great Circle for #Glastonerds - will settle into this later.

And

rockpools the Grayson Perry is just sad. And overlaps with Empire & Sister Outsider.

Happy Weekend, Litsy 🌺

squirrelbrain Some great reads there, by the look of it! Have a great weekend. 3y
Cathythoughts Looking good 👍🏻❤️ 3y
Centique Wow, those look fascinating. Most of them id never heard of. Are you finding them by looking for a particular subject? (Like Read the World or something?) (edited) 3y
Centique And then I read more of your posts and saw the Reading Challenge you‘re doing! 😂😂😂 3y
rockpools @Centique Read the World or Something pretty much sums it up, Paula! Yes, the #ReadingAsia2021 challenge is pushing me to find thigs from or about places you wouldn‘t normally stumble across. I‘ve decided it‘s Just Too Big for me to do all of it, but I‘ve discovered some parts of the world I really want to spend more book time (Central Asia and Indonesia, this week!) Not sure Kyrgyz poetry is going to be my new thing though… 3y
Centique #orsomething could be my 2022 challenge. I have failed at Nature and Outdoors books which was my self created challenge. Turns out there is only so much nature writing I can take 🤪 The cover of that poetry book is divine though 😍 3y

Mehso-so

I think I‘m going to go with a high so-so for this one. I enjoyed the fenland setting, and quite enjoyed the story. It definitely got bogged down in Edmund‘s sin and diaries in the middle. He really had zero redeeming features. And as a non-horror reader, I kind of wanted more creep and scariness than the pondweed provided. No, I can‘t figure that out either.

Thanks for getting me to try something different #Glastonerds!

squirrelbrain Yes, I wasn‘t sure what was going on with the pondweed either… 3y
Caroline2 Pondweed!! 😂 spot on review. 👍 3y

Another week, another jumble of a #bookreport. Heavily influenced by #Glastonerds 😁

I finished Wakenhyrst, haven‘t reviewed yet, liked the setting, not sure about the plot.
Sunne and Sovietistan still ongoing. What can I say? I just like to take my time over some books.

Having a bit of a nightmare on the audio front. Bailed on Heartaches - didn‘t like where it was going. Quietly re-shelved How we Disappeared - too sad for now.

rockpools Am trying a fluffy thriller courtesy of @TrishB to see if that works instead (so far so good).

And started Black Tides as my replacement #Singapore read, because apparently short, sweet, sad silkpunk is EXACTLY what I want to read right now. How odd. Thanks @Leniverse ! Happy Weekend, folks!
