While reading The Tale of The Firebird for #ChildrensClassicRead2025 , I came across the Russian fairytale that one of my favorite books, The Snowchild is based upon!
I love a literary surprise!

The illustrator is a master of Russian decorative art, one of the last most impressive artists in the great Russian tradition of book illustration. He left Russia after the Revolution & settled in Paris. He translated 4 Russian fairytales into French, writing them out in beautiful calligraphy & illustrating them on heavy vellum pages

After cleaning the house I‘m going to settle down a bit and read June‘s #ChildrensClassicRead2025

I also am going to read about Baba Yaga that‘s included in the ebook.

Finished last Sunday for #ChildrensClassicRead2025 & one of my #Roll100 May picks (#70: Any Children‘s Book). Written in 1906, is a sweet story about a unique group of dolls & their dollhouse. While I didn‘t love it, I liked it well enough for it to be a pick.

I love finding these wacky foreign covers! I guess that's supposed to be Queen Crosspatch? Who's so obviously a sexy minx! 😂

This was cute but a little sappy for my tastes. Burnett was better at writing for older children, I think. I did wonder if this inspired Rumer Godden's wonderful doll stories.

My mood is relieved that while I do need to get some work done tomorrow, I don‘t have to go to or be at work & I can sleep in a bit.
