Hosted a #BookTasting at our Winter Reading Challenge Kick-off event today at the library.

Cortg Great idea! 4y
S3V3N How does a book tasting work? Sounds fun. 4y
MaggieCarr @BeaG I've hosted them only for kids up until yesterday and my opening line is "My goal for you is to taste a genre, author, time period, subject you may not have experienced before." By gathering a large selection of titles, being available to chat 1 on 1 with browsers, and being a readers' advisory I've had great luck with getting customers to experience something new. 4y
S3V3N @MaggieCarr this sounds awesome. I ended up Googling it. I my incorporate it class with my high schoolers. 4y

About to select an audio book so I can work on folding 160 "menus" for my book tasting tomorrow with my 8th graders! I hope this goes well... #TeachersofLitsy #BookTasting #LiteratureCirclrs

JazzFeathers What is book tasting about? 🤔 6y
AndreaReads Thanks everyone! It took forever, but it's still a little more creative than I usually am, so hopefully it'll be worth it. @JazzFeathers A Book Tasting is a way for me to introduce the books we'll be using for literature circles. The classroom will be set up like a cafe, and the students will get a few minutes to sample each of the book choices before they decide which one they want to read. 6y
JaclynW What a fun idea! How did it go? 6y
AndreaReads @JaclynW It went really well! I had a fireplace roaring through the projector, cafe music, and I served cupcakes at the end. Overall the kids enjoyed the activity and have asked several times since when we're going to do it again! Even my reluctant readers enjoyed themselves. I think it was a success! 6y
JaclynW It sounds like a great success! Are you going to do it again? I would have loved this as a student. I have lots of teacher friends, I'm totally sharing your idea with them! 😊 6y
Cupofjo What an amazing idea! May I share this with some teacher friends? (I‘m not a teacher but work with students in schools) 6y
