The Autumn Springs Retirement Home Massacre
The Autumn Springs Retirement Home Massacre | Philip Fracassi
9 posts | 3 read | 1 reading | 4 to read
Brimming with dark humor, violence, and mystery, The Autumn Springs Retirement Home Massacre is a blood-soaked slasher sure to keep readers guessing until the very last page. Rose DuBois is not your average final girl. Rose is in her late 70s, living out her golden years at the Autumn Springs Retirement Home. When one of her friends dies alone in her apartment, Rose isnt too concerned. Accidents happen, especially at this age! Then another resident drops dead. And another. With bodies stacking up, Rose cant help but wonder: are these accidents? Old age? Or something far more sinister? Together with her best friend Miller, Rose begins to investigate. The further she digs, the more convinced she becomes: theres a killer on the loose at Autumn Springs, and if she isnt careful, Rose may be their next victim. Also by Philip Fracassi: Boys in the Valley At the Publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management Software (DRM) applied.

This book!! It‘s my first Philip Fracassi and definitely not my last. A slasher novel with heart?! Yes, please. I tend to be a slow reader these days but I barreled through 400+ pages in less than 2 days. I love these characters, especially one of the best final girls ever. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

So I went with an all-horror box this time from @AardvarkBookClub ! If you had told me I‘d be reading 2-3 horror books every month 5 or 6 years ago, I wouldn‘t have believed you! 😂

Still having trouble recovering from my spay. There were issues that happened in pre-op and with anesthesia that went awry that I tried to prevent and correct, and it‘s just incredibly frustrating. I did see my dad for the first time in over 2 weeks yesterday, ⬇️

Megabooks and that was really wonderful for both of us! And I am so glad that the person we‘ve hired to help Mom in the evenings until I‘m better can come another week. So slow progress is better than no progress. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Going to try to write a few reviews tonight. 1mo
Suet624 I‘m so sorry about the complications. 💕 1mo
vlwelser I wish you a speedy recovery. I have also been reading more horror and sci fi than ever before. It's an escape. 1mo

This slasher story set in the titular retirement home moves quickly with a high body count! Rose is among the first of the residents to be suspicious of the accidents & rising death toll. She & her friends set about their own investigation. With a sizable cast & a great performance, this fast-paced & bloody thriller has a certain cinematic quality to it, that dare I say makes this a fun #SpookySeasonRead! A little predictable but a lot of fun!

'The Autumn Springs Retirement Home Massacre' was a great slasher. There were cozy moments in the solving of the murders. However, the gorey descriptions kept it from being a true cozy. Rose isn't your typical final girl in that she is in her 70's. Together with her friends in the home, she investigates the strange deaths. TW for gore and death scenes of the elderly. I really liked this audio edition. 4.5 stars.
