A tribute to the Pacific Northwest's grunge genre draws on the observations of individuals at the forefront of the movement from Soundgarden and the Melvins to Nirvana and Pearl Jam, citing the influences of such factors as the rise of Seattle's Sub Pop record label and the death of Kurt Cobain.

I‘m so excited to see the posts for July‘s #TitlesAndTunes #SexDrugsAndRockNRoll ! I immediately thought of the tagged book to read…gotta love a history about grunge music!

As for the song, I debated over a few to choose and ended up with this one. Halestorm is from not far where I live, so it‘s kind of a local tie.

BarbaraBB The book sounds great! I don‘t know the song but am excited to find out! 10mo
Cinfhen Same @BarbaraBB I love a hometown connection, Jess!!! 10mo

Create a playlist of grunge and alt rock and hard rock #music from the 90s, and I‘ll be very content for hours. While I appreciate a lot of types of music, 90s music is definitely my go to for anything - bad days, good days, whatever days. I also love lyrics. I may not normally listen to a band or a singer, but if I hear a lyric that speaks to me, I‘m sold. #Gratitude30

#Anthem of my teen years, and I fully admit, I‘m still stuck in the ‘90s. ‘90s Grunge, hard rock and alternative rock live on, at least in my house... #getmovin

MicrobeMom Loved the 90s. My teenage years as well. Great music, no social media, and baggy clothes. Great times! 6y
Librarybelle @MicrobeMom Great times indeed! 6y
CBee @MicrobeMom I never would‘ve thought back then that social media would even be a thing. It was so much simpler then. 😐 6y
Cinfhen The 90‘s were pretty awesome too, but the 80‘s were definitely brighter #NeonandSpandexForever 6y

DeeLew @Alfoster I was in the second grade and it happened so fast I really didn't know what was going on. I do dislike the circus but mainly because of the animal cruelty... 7y

I love music as much as I love reading. I love all kinds of music but my favorite genre is the Seattle grunge. I am really bummed about the death of Chris Cornell. It has been weighing on my mind and heart ever since I heard the news. I have such great memories from the 90s and that music. It feels like the death of a friend in a way. It also hits close to home because I know what it's like to deal with anxiety and depression. 😔

Pickpick

Loved this account of the early Seattle scene right through to Layne Stayley's death. I had romanticised what it must of been like. This destroyed that.
Its in an excellent format, entirely quotes from band members, industry folk as well as seattle-ites, this meant there wasnt an authors voice getting in the way. Highly recommended.
