The Perfume Collector
The Perfume Collector | Kathleen Tessaro
In 1955, Grace Monroes marriage has landed her at the heart of Londons high society, but the role of sophisticated socialite doesnt come easily to her. An unexpected inheritance from a French woman she has never met sends her on a journey to Paris, to a long-abandoned perfume shop where she discovers the bewitching story of Eva dOrsey, a perfumers muse in the 1920s. As Evas past and Graces future intersect, Grace realizes she must choose between the life she thinks she should live and the person she is truly meant to be.

Such a beautifully written book!! I found myself immersed into the world that it created and didn‘t want to come back to the real world! A ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read for sure!!

My January Book Club Pick, pages filled with grammatical errors and the plot is set in WWII France about an English maid who inherits fortune from someone she does not know.

Today is #BookLoversDay and it made me realize I have *completely* failed at my New Year's resolution to post about all of the four and five star books I've read this year. So to catch up, here are some lovely spreadsheets of the ones I've read so far! 😝

Even though a couple of plot points were predictable, this book is so beautifully written that it didn‘t matter. I thoroughly enjoyed the premise, the setting, and the characters, even though most of them were seriously flawed. 4/5⭐️ And I will never consider perfume the same way again.

“Perfume should tell a story-the story of who you are, who you might be, perhaps even who you fear becoming...”. This book is fascinating! I have lots of things to do today that are not likely to get done because if it😂

As if my TBR wasn‘t already overloaded, I‘ve succumbed to some BookBub offers in the last couple of weeks. This has intrigued me for a while, so when I saw it on sale I jumped at it. And it just looks too interesting to wait. Starting now😄

The best part of being in a book club is being gently nudged to read something that you might not have ever picked up. Starting this tonight! (Marley was checking to see if the book smelled like perfume)

Mehso-so

I had this book on my shelf for a few years. I think it took me so long to get to it, because it was just lost in a sea of other WWII stories based in France. As I expected, it was fairly predictable, but had some enjoyable twists in the end.

"Are we at war with fate?"
"It's a tango, don't you find? Sometimes dramatic, sometimes quiet, but always with a few good hard slaps thrown in."
My favorite line from this!
I really enjoyed this book! The ending could have been better, but overall it kept me interested and was a good read.

I liked this one. I wish that I could visit 1950's Paris, it seems so much more alive then 1950's England. I was most interested in the perfume descriptions. But that could be my love of essential oils.

This is a reminder of just how powerful the olfactory sense is. Plus, what better book is there for a perfume slut? I say none other than this, which I've already read how many times? You have to read this if you collect perfume, like I do.

I would have never read this book if my book club hadn't selected it. Why? Because the blurb is so boring my eyes rolled back into my head while reading it, but the book was so great! Really enjoyed the ups and downs of these two strong females and the assorted other personalities in their lives.
