Despite plenty of English Lit, my degree in Business didn‘t prepare me for the #writinglife. This instructional audiobook (with a PDF) is a good start to filling in the blanks. Mazzeo is an author and Ph.D professor. She organizes and delivers the content well. I used her exercises to improve my current project. Another great addition to my #selfdirectedwritingcourse.

kgriffith This is quite timely, as I‘m shifting to a writing focus myself and looking to build a practice. Thanks for the rec! 2mo
BarbaraTheBibliophage @kgriffith Glad to help and good for you! I also just found some courses at Udemy that looked good. The old Ebates site (now Rakuten) has great coupons. Plus, of course a million good books! 😘 2mo

In this slim memoir about being a writer, Levy examines a question that she feels is “very close to the bone: What do we do with knowledge that we cannot bear to live with?” Her struggle to find her voice, to make art, and to get it out into the world moved me deeply. #writinglife

A master class from a modern master. I didn‘t think this book would be that helpful when I picked it up? But I got it because he obviously knows how to write. It ended up being an amazingly inspiring read for my writing.

I've had these two writing reference books: The Synonym Finder by Rodale and Structuring Your Novel by Meredith and Fitzgerald for almost 15 years. They are the oldest books on my bookshelf and I still use them on a regular basis. Excellent writing reference books. What are your oldest writing reference books on your bookshelf? #writing #writinglife #reference #referencebooks #amwriting

Nina Sadowsky wrote an insightful & honest article for this month‘s “Writer‘s Digest” about “Politics, Personality & Process.” The article is so good, that now I am ordering the novelist & screenwriter‘s latest thriller. #tbr #writinglife
