Excellent book!

Transporting a woman to the asylum, Kopp doubts that the woman belongs there. Never content to let an injustice slide by, she is determined to right this wrong. Of course, the fact that a high-stakes election is coming up means that Kopp should be behaving herself, but when has she (or the reporters) ever been bothered with that?

I adore Constance, and was delighted to receive an ARC of this to follow her further!

#3 in the Kendra Donovan series by Julie McElwain. FBI agent Donovan is still stranded in 1815, and finds herself in the middle of another murder investigation after Luddites break into a mill and the manager is found dead.

I've been enjoying this series. The time travel premise was a little strange at first, but it's fun watching Donovan react to the customs she finds ridiculous, and manage to solve crimes without any modern conveniences.

#6 in the Dublin Murder Squad series by Tana French. Detectives Conway and Moran are investigating the aftermath of a domestic dispute. While everyone else seems convinced it's a standard open and shut case, they're not so sure. Or are they just overcomplicating things?

I love French's writing style. Her characters are so well crafted, and the stories just suck you in. I totally lost track of time when they started closing in on the killer!

Malorie has spent years training "boy" and "girl" to navigate the outdoors wearing blindfolds, to sharpen their hearing to perceive the world around them, and to stay safe from the creatures who will drive them to violent madness if glimpsed. There's this incredible tension throughout the book, and I couldn't wait to see what happened next!

This was an excellent choice for my first read of the year!

Constance Kopp returns in the third installment of this series, and is fully embracing her role as deputy sheriff. She's doing everything in her power to help the women that end up in her prison, and is coming into conflict with ideas of how young girls should behave.

Loved this and can't wait for the next one!

So I just figured out that Goodreads was missing a bunch of my "finished reading" dates and filled in the ones I could figure out. Turns out setting my reading goal for 2017 at 52 books wasn't anywhere near as much of a stretch as I thought it'd be ? I read way more than I thought I did!

Anyone have a better way to track their books?

Here's the latest awesome book I've read!

The media has dubbed three women the "Final Girls" after they each emerge from slasher-style massacres as the sole survivor. Quincy has done a pretty good job of putting that horrific night behind her, until the original Final Girl is found dead.
*****
Suspenseful, twist-filled thriller. Perfect Halloween read! I'd tell you more, but I don't want to spoil anything!

A Murder in Time | Julie McElwain

A time traveling FBI agent solves a murder. I'll admit, I wasn't sure about this one at first, but once I started reading it I was hooked. It's less about the time travel, and more about the agent's ability to adapt to completely unfamiliar circumstances and accomplish her goal without any of her usual resources, all while trying to get people to take her seriously without any of her credentials. Excellent read!

Ok, so if you were on board for my last recommendation, here's another incredible book! This is a thriller/slasher set in a luxury hotel. The staff is finishing last minute prep work for the grand opening, and then people start getting murdered. The structure of the story is a little different, but it all comes together. In the right hands, this would be an amazing movie, but it'd have to be really long to fit in all the awesome!
