pickI started listening to this book on a whim, unsure if I‘d finish it. It wasn‘t long before I was cackling and completely hooked by the hilarious stories and over the top reverse-catfishing Becky Holmes uses on scammers. The oil rig worker who‘s in love with you in your DMs is desperate, not for your love but for your money. While this is humorous, Holmes gets serious with profiles of women affected by this and also the catfishers themselves.

slategreyskies @BarbaraBB When I worked at a store that had a Western Union, I got training on how to decline transactions that looked fraudulent. I had an elderly woman come in once wanting to send a large sum of money to Nigeria, and I told her that I wasn‘t allowed to do it, because it was against the rules. She didn‘t know specifics about the man or anything. She was really disappointed and sad, but her son (who‘d brought her in) was thankful. 😢 1w

Chelsea.Poole @BarbaraBB @slategreyskies both stories are sad! I have many myself from our library. One woman in particular has been sending money to her multiple “husbands” over the years. She refuses to listen to reason. At some point it becomes a denial issue, or I‘ve even known people who are so far in they don‘t even mind it being a scam because they‘re in love. 1w
