This turned out to be a series of short stories in which Poirot investigates a slew of smaller crimes from dog snatching to religious cults. They are supposedly his last cases before retirement. Not my favorite of his novels but still entertaining.

I can always read an Agatha Christie book at any time or place. Her books are always comfort reads, and when I don't know what other book to read, I know I can always count on a good Agatha Christie mystery. I've been re-reading the Labours of Hercules, and it's been an absolute pleasure to get into again. Does not disappoint :)

12 short stories modeled on the 12 labors of Hercules. Poirot decides to retire after completing 12 cases that he is interested in & relate to the premise. I enjoyed most of these stories. Christie was still able to fit in red herrings, & it was refreshing to have mysteries that didn‘t involve murder.

Like The Labors of Hercules, the twelve cases Poirot must solve in this captivating collection of short crime fiction stories are dangerous, demanding, and positively ingenious.

Hercule Poirot solves twelve cases based on the classical myth of the labors of Hercules. Some cases are more interesting than others, but the audio was still enjoyable.

Found the most amazing museum yesterday in DC filled with all sorts of cool knickknacks, books, and secret rooms! You're encouraged to go in with a shopping bag because everything is for sale, and look what I found: 12 more of an Agatha Christie set I had one of already. If you're ever in the DC area you should definitely check out the O St Mansion/Museum!

The only other Agatha Christie book I've read is Murder on the Orient Express and I loved that one!
This one not so much...

This book had 12 mysteries crammed into it and I had a hard time keeping up, plus I wasn't a fan of all of the cringe-worthy descriptions of people

Are her other books better?? Recommendations?

The cover is not so cute, so got #Romeothecat in the pic 😂 #catsoflitsy

deactivate I love Agatha Christie books, so I might be biased in suggesting not to give up, especially if you enjoyed one already. Like many authors who produce a lot of work, not every piece is going to be a gold medal. I‘d suggest The Murder of Roger Ackroyd or And Then There Were None, as those books are generally considered to be some of her best. 6y

phatsallylee And there there were none is another great one. The stories featuring Mrs. Marple remind me of modern cozy mysteries which i enjoy. 6y
kathleenaflynn That‘s one of the weaker ones. Try The Murder of Roger akroyd 6y
glitterkitty459 @malyndamjackson @phatsallylee @kathleenaflynn @Laughterhp @MommyWantsToReadHerBook Thanks guys for the suggestions!! I'll check all these out😁 And Then There Were None is on the Great American Read list so I'll definitely get that one! 6y
SidWilliams I concur with And Then There Were None. Murder is Easy, generally a stand-alone title, has some interesting twists and turns. 6y

My Agatha Christie binge continues... These stories probably aren't the best if you're the kind of reader who wants to solve the mystery yourself, but they're perfect if you're just here to hang out with M. Poirot-- like I am... 🕵🏻

brownekr This is one of my favourite Poirots because it reminds me of reading Two-Minute Mysteries/Encyclopedia Brown books as a kid. Just the facts, boom, new case. (And Poirot at peak eccentricity!) 6y

The big United for Puerto Rico fundraiser I am helping to organize happens this weekend, so I am a little bummed that I will only have very limited time available for #deweysreadathon. I do have some downtime today, so I have put together a very small TBR pile for the weekend. I hope to finish Practical Magic, dip into some Poirot short stories, & start my re-read of The Handmaid's Tale for Nov book club! #readathon #tbr #foliofreaks #screamathon

One of my favorites in a long time - and given my fondness for Agatha Christie and Poirot, that is saying something! I'd definitely recommend it.

Besides making sure all the squirrels knew we were keeping an eye on them, we picked up this old favorite at a local little free library.
