Alvirah Meehan, the lottery winner turned amateur sleuth, and her husband Willy, private detective Regan Reilly, her new husband Jack, and Regan's parents are all guests on the Royal Mermaid's maiden voyage, the Santa Cruise. The ship's passengers include members of the Oklahoma Readers and Writers group - who are planning a mystery seminar dedicated to a Ghost of Honour, the late Left Hook Louie - as well as assorted other charitable folk all planning on a restful post-Christmas vacation. What the guests don't know is that two escaping criminals have been smuggled on board. The hoped-for tranquility quickly vanishes when a terrified mystery fan swears she has spotted the Ghost of Honour in the ship's chapel, and soon after - while a storm develops outside - an attempt is made on the life of a feeble passenger. As the Royal Mermaid sails on through troubled waters, Alvirah, Regan and Jack are uncovering clues that lead them to dangerous criminals.

Looks like this book has gotten very mixed reviews. Either you love it or hate it. I‘m not quite in the love camp, but I did enjoy the ride! A mystery that was interesting but not overly taxing. Perfect for what is likely to be my last read book of 2022. 3/5⭐️

UwannaPublishme I have this one on my shelves. I must get to it…maybe next Christmas? ☺️ 1y
PurpleyPumpkin @UwannaPublishme It was fun! Very light and just what I was looking for. 👍🏽 1y

I didn‘t think this was a good story. I expected and wanted a light holiday read but this one left me bored and a little annoyed. ⭐️⭐️

This one was awful. The writing was bad, story was pointless, and CHC is a terrible narrator. Skip this one.

#SleighTheShelves Day 24: Apparently, there‘s a whole list of #Santa-themed books - and most of them look super mysterious and scary.

Read/listened to these books on a Christmas cruise though Australia & New Zealand. I wish we didn‘t have to post on a book title, but since we do, I chose Santa Cruise because it fit my theme and was the book I most looked forward to reading but was the one I hated the most. Oh well, the rest of the books were great as was my trip. Pray for Australia! It‘s a beautiful country with beautiful people and I hope those fires get under control soon!

Was looking forward to reading this Christmas-themed whodunnit on my own Christmas cruise, but eh, so lame. My first and last Carol Higgins Clark book. Disliked all of the characters. Dialog and storyline is straight out of a Hallmark channel made-for-tv movie starring every over-the-hill D-list celebrity you can think of.

Finished off this audiobook late last night. I‘m always up for a MHC book, and as per usual, this one did not disappoint ♥️ 21 points to #MerryReaders #WinterGames

I haven't read this one but I do enjoy these quick, light hearted holiday mysteries featuring returning characters Alvira and Regan.

Santa Cruise, written by the amazing Mary Higgins Clark and Carol Higgins Clark duo, is a mystery filled with twists and turns that will leave you anxious to see what happens next right up until the very end!

While I probably should have waited to read this one during the winter holiday season, I just couldn‘t wait to dive in! And I‘m so glad that I didn‘t.

My last holiday read for the season. My library hold came in just after Christmas, which coincides with the time frame of this book. It was just okay for me. Pretty cool that it‘s narrated by Carol Higgins Clark. 🎄🎅🏻

So I was going to go with a bunch of authors named Carol for #Carols, but the only one I had available without digging into storage was #CarolHigginsClark! So here's my #12DaysOfXmasPhoto for the day! @LibrarianRyan
