Really good but really painful. This author loves to torture you. Brace while reading.

121 books this year and Light Bringer won my #ReadingBracket2023 . I did not separate fiction and nonfiction, but I have been keeping up with this all year 🤗
Whew, it's been a great book year! I will probably add a couple of books to my current 117 before it's over 😂. I think that my favorite of the year is Light Bringer by Pierce Brown. I am reading The Will of the Many currently, and it might be second! Then there's Yellowface, The Guest, Babel, A Day of Fallen Night, the Britney Spears book, Fourth Wing, ACOTAR, Gideon the Ninth, the list goes on ... !
When Light Bringer came out earlier this year Pierce Brown released an exclusive file that could be used to print a life-sized Sling Blade. Well, I don't have space for a 5' long cosplay weapon... so I had a friend shrink the file and print me a small version for my bookshelf. Today, I finally got around to painting it. I tried to get one of the cats to pose with it, but had to settle for this book stack photo.
“Human history is proof of one thing: violence builds empires. Violence is worshipped, respected, heeded. Why are we monsters for embracing this truth? Why am I a villain? Every great people has done it!”
Another excellent installment in the series. So much betrayal… in the next book I want to see vengeance for some of the traitorous activities I just read!

My love for this series and the characters kept me reading this one even when I was contemplating giving up. Unlike previous books, this one became long-winded in political strategies, and I found myself skimming, wanting to get back to the action.
It's a low pick because the ending made up for the slowness. After that explosive turn of events, now I can't wait for the final book.
Wow, this is just incredible. Dark Age was so sad and devastating so I‘m glad I didn‘t have to wait to read this one. It still has some gut punches but unlike Dark Age, it has hope. Now the long wait for the next book…5⭐️
A new favorite book is added to a long-beloved series. I finished it. It was exceptional. If you like this series and Light Bringer is sitting somewhere on your TBR -- trust me, move it up. I'll reread it before Red God comes out, I'll reread all of them, then it's just once more into the breach for this crew. Hail libertas & hail Reaper.❤️
Went to Wal-Mart with the hubby. Didn't intend to buy anything but you know how it is when you pass the book section. I was just going to look. Thankful I got only one. The only reason why I didn't buy more is I already owned the others I was interested in! 😆🤣😂
@Andrew65 Well I failed on the book buying ban. Sigh... 🙄
#serieslove2023 This took me awhile to remember who all of the characters were as it‘s been so long in between books, but then I was transported back into the world. Yes, everyone is a little older and have different priorities now that they have families, but stopping Lysander is a must. Darrow must do what he does best to save his friends, outsmart his enemies and protect what he built. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars!
Sixth installment of the Red Rising series. Focused more on the war between Darrow and the falling republic and the revitalized society of Golds. Friendships were rebuilt and also destroyed. Allies were gained and lost and many surprises around every corner. I thought this would maybe the final novel in the series but there will definitely be another book to tie everything up!
Love the characters, the world, the drama…BUT this book reads like Brown is moving pieces around the chessboard, maneuvering everyone to where they need to be for what comes next. Am I ok with that? Sure, the more time I spend in this world with these characters, the better. That being said this book is a pick for that reason & not, unfortunately, because I think it‘s a great story on it‘s own. (Second book in series remains my favorite.)
"The edge of glory cuts both ways. Condolences."
I haven't posted much because I have put reading on hold while I devour the third installment of Red Rising's tetralogy, which follows the trilogy. This book is a hallucinogenic roller coaster and all of my favorite characters are in serious trouble. Trying to remember that these books are about surviving when hope is lost 🫠
I am actually taking this slow, savoring, avoiding, listening at 1x speed. I'm real scared .. hic sunt leones 😭
It‘s true, book people speak a different language…
Just got home after an eleven and a half hour flight and I know what I‘m reading today…until jet lag catches up with me and I fall asleep in the middle of the afternoon! 😬😴
"Was it a man who said 'hell hath no fury like a woman scorned'? It must have been, to imagine something so petty as scorn to be the utmost misery a woman could suffer ... do not fear for me. Instead, pity them."
This book ??
Bk2 of my recent #BookMail is the newest Red Rising novel from Pierce Brown. And it‘s a chunkster! The 3rd in the 2nd tetralogy, it‘s set after Iron Gold & Dark Age. Darrow returns as the worlds no longer need the Reaper, they need Darrow, husband, father & friend. Epic space war series.
"So if you hang your head, how can anyone hold theirs up?"
I've been impatiently waiting for days since I pre-ordered the deluxe edition and now that I finally have it ... I just dread opening it ??... I've only seen the most general spoilers so I'm not even sure whether it's going to ruin my life, but I'll err on the side of "probably." Unfortunately I cannot read much this weekend, but at least I know that it's in my possession ?????? hail reaper, wish me luck ?❤️
Have not picked up a book in weeks. Have not posted on Litsy in what seems like forever. I‘m still here! My excavation season is just keeping me very busy. That‘s all about to change, however, as I head home next week. And I know what I‘ll be reading first! It‘s been a long wait for Light Bringer but it‘s at the top of the stack of books waiting for me. Spent the day sweeping to prepare for final photos. This is what my summer has looked like…
#HappyHowler Pierce is going to break me with this one. Why does that fill me with glee as well as dread?
I've been waiting four years for this 😭😭😭😭, I'm not ready but I'm so ready.
