I loved Flight of Magpies, I think it concluded the series perfectly. I enjoyed these characters so much and I was very happy with how Fast-paced it was 🥰.

A little bit of brain candy after a run of more serious books! This series is always fun - in this one I preferred the fantasy to the romance but I think KJ Charles was mainly expanding the universe and bringing in some new characters. I loved the wind walkers so she‘s totally hooked me of course. PS these books do have explicit sex scenes so fair warning if that is something you avoid.

Centique @CarolynM I was looking for the one you read but my library didn‘t have it yet. Hopefully soon! PS I hope the travel bubble thing doesn‘t blow up, my neice and her family from Melbourne are supposed to be visiting next month! But whatever will be will be 😷😷 3y
CarolynM I've not got to the 2nd one in this series yet, I will one day. Fingers crossed re the travel bubble - it would be wonderful for your family to visit. We're on tenterhooks at the moment over a couple of small outbreaks, hopefully the contact tracing keeps things under control. 3y

I rushed through this one eager to find out what happened next and how the situations would be resolved.

Overall, the trilogy falls into the category of guilty pleasure in that Ms Charles writes a darn good yarn but her central gay couple mimic straight romantic and sexual roles to the point I'm not sure how much difference it'd make to the relationship if Stephen had been Stephanie.

#24in48 recap. 3 books finished and 3 started. Note to self: romance novellas are great for readathons.

Almost finished my audiobook; not even close to catching up on #Genji buddy read (but no further behind) 🙈 I will catch up!

And we're getting a bit of a snowstorm today so perfect for more reading.

Pretty good for what it is. The 'pay off' came very late and wasn't as hot or smutty as I'd like, and a bit short. The book on the whole is quite good and the plot was well done. Overall, I'd say that it needed a few more words about everything, the motivations, the characters, the descriptions. Everything was just a bit too tight, a bit too concise. It was fun!

CarolynM I like KJ Charles books a lot. I have this one on my kindle but haven't got there yet. Hopefully it's smuttier in English!😜 6y

The book is still fun, but the translation is becoming apparent in places. "Practice makes perfect," was turned into "Le pratique est la clé su succès," which is awkward at best. Oh, well.

Redwritinghood I‘m still learning French. Would the back-translation be “Practice is the key to success”? Not too far off, but defiantly doesn‘t quite capture it. 6y
tournevis @Redwritinghood Got it, but it sounds awkward, grammatically correct, but heavy. 6y
CouronneDhiver Haha! Translation is definitely an art form 6y

Ok, so I might have been reading K/S fanfic instead of finishing the tagged book and I might also have changed my phone's background pic as a result. Maybe. Kinda.

Been reading this one in French, mostly because that requires even less brain power than in the original English. I like it so far. The writing is tight, if a bit brusque, but I don't know if that's because of the translation or if it was in the original. In any case, I should be done in a couple more sittings.

Woke to a cold house at 13ºC inside. Someone (pictured) had changed the heater settings before leaving for Québec City and not set them back. Gonna read some until the temperature gets back to 21ºC.

I enjoyed this third instalment of the A Charm of Magpies series as much as the first and more than the second. Lord Crane is in love with Simon but unhappy to have to hide his feelings in public. Simon is very invested in his magical policeman gig and doesn't want to leave England. A fun historical fantasy #romantsy book 🔥

Finally finished this last book in the A Charm of Magpies trilogy. It's a satisfying conclusion to the paranormal historical romance series centering on two characters that are interesting foils for each other. Charles is an adept writer. I just wish there weren't so many missing words in the ebook version. #24in48

I admit I prefer K.J. Charles' Society of Gentleman series. However, this series is very fun if you like paranormal. The couple has witty banter and class differences, and that's my catnip. 😸#romance #paranormal #historical

My only reading equipment is my old school Kindle - and this case with a built-in book light. Right now, we're experiencing a bit of winter weather, so a fleece blanket is also required reading equipment. #readjanuary

Gooddaysunshine I seriously have a Kindle voyager sitting in a drawer. It's yours next time I see you 😄 (edited) 7y
Gooddaysunshine I upgraded to the oasis, and kept the other for Kevin. But he hasn't touched it. 7y
