⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Solid story about the aftermath of an F6 hurricane that destroys Miami and Huston. The best parts to me were the personal accounts that were interspersed within the story. It reminded me of the format of World War Z.

Heard about this book in the summer - about a major hurricane that decimates Florida and everyone is put into “camps” across the country. Checked it out of the library two weeks and welp….here comes Ian. While evacuated, I started this book. Probably not the best idea, but it raises some interesting points and is less fiction than I like. This should count as a #spookyread

Ruthiella Are you able to go back home now or still evacuated? ❤️ 1y
Kappadeemom @Ruthiella we got back home last night and spent the day cleaning up. No damage to our house and boat 🙏 1y

✨I read lots of good books this summer, the tagged book among them.
✨ Trying to squeeze a little more summer out of September while mentally preparing for fall!
✨ The picture is Frank Lloyd Wrights Graycliff on the shore of Lake Erie, which I toured last week.

MoonWitch94 Pretty picture! Thanks for playing 🐚🍁😊 2y

This may be the most powerful book I have read this year because of my own personal history with hurricanes in Houston, TX. Our home flooded during Harvey and I will never forget having to walk out of our neighborhood in chest deep water with our three cats and the little we could salvage on an air mattress. So this story hit very close to home and actually helped me further work through the trauma that Harvey caused.

#JulyRecap , 8 books is my usual. My favs were the two in the middle and the tagged book. Saw the Crawdads movie today, very true to the book.

3¾⭐
While not adrenaline-fueled like the synopsis states…it did have a near-apocalyptic feel to it. It started out like it might be action-packed but that only lasted for a short bit. Focusing more on what the shelter/tent-city was like in Oklahoma that the family was bused to. I now know I‘m quite happy I don‘t live near the Ocean. If I did, after listening to this book, I definitely would want a better “bug-out” plan. ⬇⬇⬇

AudiobookingWithLeah Overall, it was dragged out a little too much with a rather meandering pace, especially the ending. Although I did like the closure that some threads were given. 2y

To be fair, I strongly disliked The Gifted School by this author. The Displacements was a surprise and ended up being an excellent read.

As someone who grew up dealing with Hurricanes, the author's descriptions of what a person feels and goes through during a hurricane were so accurate they were frightening.

This book has a little bit of everything- drama, suspense, survival- and it all comes together in an exciting story that I will not forget.

Megabooks Great review! 2y

This book was so true to a worst case scenario for a family escaping the first Category 6 hurricane that I had to put it down and catch my breath a few times!

Hurricane Luna makes a turn and heads straight for Miami. Daphne flees with three kids, unable to meet her husband in time. Her purse was left behind with all her cards, phone, and money. Forced into a megashelter in OK, she must try to survive where conmen and drug dealers lurk. Out 7/5/22

Megabooks Thank you to @RiverheadBooks for this gifted copy. It was perfect timing that the day I started reading a storm blew a large branch onto my neighbor‘s roof! 2y
